Somewhere over the rainbow… or not
Discussion
One of my lunch haunts when I am in Nottingham has a rainbow flag crossing the pedestrianised street. It’s quite a student / bohemian locale.
What amazes me is how many young people refuse to walk over it. They will clutch onto the barriers outside the restaurant in an attempt to skirt round it.
I would be less surprised if it were young men, not wanting to “catch the gay”. But just as many are girls. It must be thirty of them in the last half an hour.
So, are young people not as invested in diversity as we are sometimes led to believe?

Probably worried they will slip over and hurt themselves if they aren't wearing trainers.
When I was riding motorbikes, we were warned that paint on the road was danger.
Weirdly they put more of it in dangerous places, making things worse!
I doubt it is expensive high traction paint they are using.

Maybe they were avoiding the strange man taking pictures of people near the rainbow flag.
The barrier they cling to is the one in the foreground, so they were in fact moving closer to the strange man taking pictures.Meanwhile, over in Canada Land, tyre marks on rainbow stripes are washed off by city workers.
