I haven’t been able to wear my engagement ring since I broke my hand a few years ago (falling over, nothing ominous!). I’d quite like to start wearing it again but it needs adjusting. Unfortunately, the guy we got it from in Hatton Garden is no longer in business and I’d rather take it to somewhere trustworthy.

If any of the PH company directors can recommend somewhere in central or east London, that would be much appreciated. TIA.

Maybe shoot a pic to Eddie on here to see if he can do it??

He made a ring for my wife about 4 years ago and it turned out perfect.

Not in London but if you wanted a day out by the sea, my friend is https://www.prudenandsmith.com/ in Ditchling, just north of Brighton.

I haven't used him myself but Russell is highly recommended and Shenfield is easily reached by train. He is a proper petrolhead too and will talk about old Fords for ages.

He's making an model Escort out of silver.

Another recommendation for Eddie.

I don’t go anywhere else now.

Dom isn't a jeweller per se, as far as I know. But he is based in Hatton Garden and will know who to take it to in the HG area, if getting it done in London is convenient.

Very wise to ask for recommendations. A jeweller near me was in serious trouble when it sold a diamond ring, when the ring came in for adjustment the diamond was swapped for CZ.

Whatever happened to your thread 'on the bench' or something like it?

That was exactly the kind of thing I was worried about! I’d read a few stories along those lines and didn’t want to take the risk.

I used to enjoy writing that, but PH has changed. Gone from a crowd who enjoyed and supported what I did to one that would waste my time with countless emails asking can I do it cheaper than...... or if I supply all the materials can you do it for £x/hr? I still have a decent PH customer base but they're from that previous gang.

Late reply because what with one thing and another.

We went to Eddie at J&R in Ringwood and he was super helpful, resized my engagement and wedding rings then sent them back next day delivery. I couldn’t have asked for a better service so thanks for thé recommends.
