Can anyone identify the location of these 2 photos? I thought they looked interesting and were listed on Ebay as "Corfe Castle". Although I've visted Corfe a couple of times briefly it dioesnt look like anything I recognise there.

Cant be many places with terraced housing built so close to rock formations like that. Any ideas?

Doesn't look like Corfe Castle for sure.

I think somewhere like that should be quite famous in these days of Instagram, especially with those houses facing the cliff. Could have been demolished?

This being Pistonheads, we could start by working out the model of car and thus when the photo was taken. Also does it have UK or Irish plates?

Err mods, thanks for fixing my title but I don't think I'll get any answers to my query by moving this to the photography section!

My query is about geographical location not the technicalities of the pictures themselves!

I still think the best place for it is General Gassing? Like this;

I’ve no idea where it is, but would be interested to see where it is and if it remains the same.

Surprising how close the houses are built to the rock.

Report your post and ask them to move it, they don't read every thread.

The car is a Ford V8 Model 62 from about 1936 so the photos can't be earlier than that. Is that rock limestone? If so it might be in Derbyshire, the front row of houses look quite upmarket with bay windows and front gardens but the three storey ones at the back suggest 'up North' and don't look so prosperous so that might narrow it down a bit.

It has a look of Derbyshire to me.

I think the three storey ones are seen from behind and might be two storey and look more upmarket at the front.

My instinct says Devon or Cornwall but I don't know why.

The first photo is really quite distinctive and I would be very surprised if someone doesn't recognise it straight away.

It doesn't look anything like Corfe Castle to my eyes.

Think Yorkshire grit or the rock outcrop on the outskirts of Tunbridge Wells Kent.
Born near Corfe Castle which it most certainly is not - wrong colour rock for starters.

My google skills are coming up with nothing.
It doesn’t look like Cornwall to me though

I think it's Upper Street in Tunbridge Wells.

Edit: Yeah, compare the roofline and window alignments circled with the streetview:

Possibly built near old slate mines in Wales ?

Some google images show it as an area worth more investigation.

It certainly looks like it based on Streetview. The shape of the houses behind the car match perfectly. Edit: as I see you also said once I refreshed!

Was thinking T Wells as soon as I saw this. Spent way too long in the Toad Rock Retreat as a juvenile!
