Anyone know of an outlet where Piloti shoes are actually available? AIUI, they went bust but were resurrected, but I'm not aware of anywhere stocking the items listed on their website.

In the absence of Piloti, what do you wear when you're looking for a non-trainer, non-moccasin, non-race driving shoe?

I just wear shoes. Nothing special other than not too wide so they fit in the Elise.

I actually prefer driving in my cheap work shoes to my Alpinestars race boots (sole is too stiff for my liking, and not brilliantly made).
My old, unbranded, race boots were brilliant - every bit as much feel as a tatty pair of Converse, but fireproof.

All the Puma stuff looks like trainers to me.

I'm thinking more along the lines of something like the Piloti Campione, but ideally as a shoe-to-mid, rather than a boot.

I'm the same. If the shoes are comfortable and the soles are supple, I'm happy.

In the Griff I generally drive in Timberland deck shoes, the thin soled ones.

I've had 3 pairs pairs of Piloti's, the quality gradually went downhill from initially supple, well made, comfortable shoes to cheap feeling and poor fit. My guess was they outsourced the manufacturing to boost margins and the quality took a dive.

I've got a couple of pairs of moccasin style driving shoes, I've got pumas, I've got deck shoes which I drive in as well as sail...

But I'm looking for something a little smarter/stylish, not just recommendations for shoes for driving in in general.

I've got a nice pair of Oliver Sweeney brogues which I wear about town, but they don't have as much feel as I'd like for driving, so something with a similar style but more feel. The Piloti ticks the boxes but it's too much of a boot... apart from the fact I can't find any anywhere

OMP Nurburgrings are the nearest I've found.

I stumbled across this site a while ago whilst looking for driving shoes.

some nice ones, but pricey!

can't comment on their quality, I have always stuck with Puma or Sparco.

You can buy direct from Piloti UK http://www.piloti.uk.com/contact/ a nice Scottish lady called Elspeth or their listed retailers http://www.piloti.uk.com/retailers/ .
I bought a pair of PRIMOs recently, they are as comfortable as slippers, very well made, but I would have expected that for the price smile .

£115 for the le mans ones! I got a pair at car fest for £45! They're okay but the insoles fade quickly and the soles are pretty hard but other than that they are pretty decent but not worth £115 by any stretch of the imagination.

Good call on the Sabelt shoes. The new Piloti range are predominately moccasins or race shoes.

I'm thinking the omp carrera/Nurburgring is probably the best bet as it looks okay but is also fia approved.

Look up Onitsuka Tiger Tai-Chi shoes, or Sparco Imolas.

Piloti are US or Canadian owned now. They are still made in Italy. So because the British public didn’t get the vote out and vote to stay in the EU, we can only buy them from the US at over 72% higher than we used to pay. Outrageous.
