When I lived in India, that's exactly what the "office" sounded like when you turned on the lights first thing in the morning. That is, if the lights actually turned on and the breakers didn't freak out and give you a free smokeshow. Blockbuster said:
The neighbours all putting their wheelie bins out on the street at 5pm the day before collection.
They’re not collected until around 10:30am so there’s plenty of time in the morning. I stick mine on the street before I leave for work.
I just don’t understand why most people feel the need to have them out by 5pm the day before.
It’s not even an irrational annoyance either, as plenty of them will happily put them out on a stormy evening and all the rubbish ends up everywhere.
I have neighbours next door and opposite who simply leave their bins (3 wheelies) on the pavement all the time, because they can't be bothered, or are too scatty, to work out when the various collection days are. These are detached houses with good driveways and side access to back gardens. These people annoy me beyond reason. The next door guy runs a "landscaping" business too, and leaves his cement mixer and varying amounts of detritus from customers' projects leaning against my 2 foot wall and in full view of my dining room permanently, because "the pikies will take it all", apparently. The pikies never take it of course, he just doesn't want to pay for it to be disposed of commercially, and he can't take it to the council tip in his signwritten van. They’re not collected until around 10:30am so there’s plenty of time in the morning. This doesn't belong in this thread as it is highly reasonable to find this annoying. Personally I'd be having a word with him first to give him the chance to rectify it as assuming he's not a complete moron he already understands it's not on and maybe just needs a nudge. After that I'd be on to the council about storing commercial waste on residential land.
Bad neighbours really can fk your life up.

Ahem, not everyone gets up at single figure o'clock. I would beg to differ with the "plenty of time in the morning"! Nothing wrong with putting the rubbish out the previous evening.
And the time of day the bins are collected can vary, so again, that's why everyone puts them out the night before, and not the next morning. No is is going to get up before 7AM just to stick their bins out, are they ?
I put my bins out at 7am, as instructed by the Council.
My neighbours said the noise wakes them up, and would I please put my bins out the night before, like they do!
No, I said. See the Council's instructions.
It's a council-approved driveway, it's a council-approved bin, it's a council-approved time to put them out, so please direct your complaint to the Council.

And when the lights flicker in a house, and there's a crackling/arcing sound.Lights don't flicker, they just go our. And they don't make a noise either.
But, it adds to the forebodingness !

Certainly agree with the stupid film noises for things that in reality rarely make much of a noise.
Such as doors closing, making a right old ratchety clunky sound. Utter nonsense.
Noisy footsteps that should be soundless, car tyre squeal on EVERY surface known to man, even sand.Such as doors closing, making a right old ratchety clunky sound. Utter nonsense.
And last but not least - the biggest evil migraine inducing fking blind bit of ignorance you'll see in any and every winter movie - fake snow. It doesn't behave like snow in any way at all. It doesn't get slushy or dirty or pile up unevenly. It's sits on forest floors sprayed like shaving foam and particles hang, weightless, in the air. It doesn't freeze on people's faces or in their beards, you don't see the actor's ice cold breath, you oh fk it it annoys me so fking much.
If we're doing movie nonsense...
The Director's insistence that the view through binoculars is always bisected, because we - the audience - would not realise we're now getting a zoomed in view. Every-bloody-time.
And people leaving doors open - in mid winter - when a visitor pops round, or calmly smoking in the doorway dressed in full Captain Scott rig out without any consideration for what it's doing to the internal temperature.
Why do these things still irritate?
