I would cast a little doubt on 98% but it wouldn't surprise me if most of us have ancestors who fought in the crusades. I can only lay claim to 'knight'.

Famous? Probably not in modern terms although the records that were found would suggest he was a noble. Not an A-List royal but probably a C-List Country Squire.

All you need to do is find a link to some landed gentry. The family trees going up from there are usually very well documented

Apologies I missed this. My problem is that the records are Belgian / Luxembugger / French / Swiss so it's a bit of a tangled web to sort out.

I read that as 'and drank their cider' but I may have been right I suppose. Sounds a good night and someone I'd choose for the imaginary 'what guests would you invite to dinner?' as I'm sure he'd have plenty of stories to tell.

My having a piss next to Bryan Robson was trumped by a colleague who unblocked Shaun Ryder’s drains once when they were blocked.

I was on holiday in North Berwick in summer 1982, staying in a rental house, and Bobby Robson was staying in one of the houses along from us.
