They seem to be THE trainer for middle class retirees in Switzerland.

Makes sense as they've got Swiss flags on them which leads me to believe they must be Swiss. They're popular with middle classes in Sweden as well.

I think that Roger Federer has a stock in the company, so Swiss would be a good guess I reckon.

Yeah they’re Swiss. See a lot of older people on the Netherlands in them as well. The well dressed and active type of older person that is, I’m not knocking them in style they’re better than old people in slip in sketchers etc.

Anyhoo. Karhu, how are they size wise compared to adidas originals? I went on the sns app to join that raffle (thanks to Ryyy) and seen a pair that warrants a gamble.

I can't find any trainers I like anymore because I'm getting older and hate a lot of the new styles. Any suggestions?

I really like all the 80s/90s style Addidas stuff like Munchen, Spezial, Samba, Gazelle, Superstars, TRX, etc but all the newer models seem to have the brown soles. What happened to funky colours on top and white soles? Also, why do Gazelles have that extra bit of fabric on the front now? I'm sure they never used to.

I am also partial to Nike but can't stand most of the range including Air Force ones and the entire Jordan range. I never liked Jordans even when growing up and now they seem to be all the rage and cost a fortune too. I used to like Waffle, Pegasus, Air Max (1, not 95/97 though, ugh!), internationalists, etc.

Note that I do have some of the things i mentioned above but am struggling to find examples now. Doesn't help being size 12 and thinking that £90 is way too much for something that in my head still costs about £50.

We are in a bit of a purple patch for originals tbh. Tons of colour ways and several versions of the same shoe - I.e gazelle currently has the og, ‘85, Spzl and indoor variations. If you can’t truly find something you like on sns, end, size et al then just wait til the next season and look again.

Sadly the days of the 50-60 original are over. Used to be nice watching bike prices balloon but someone at adidas didn’t like that so much, 90-120 is typical now.

I had to see what the fuss was about. Wow, super comfy! Didn't buy but probably will.

Any love for ON?
I have a pair and they are the comfiest shoes I've ever owned. I also have their hiking boots, sooo light and comfy.

Puma and Gola do classics of the same quality but much more affordable. Not as popular with the masses as Adidas, but that's part if the appeal for me.

The part broken body of Tiger Woods no less?

He's out of contract with Nike and rocked up to the US Open this week wearing ON. If they're good enough for Tiger.....

Maison Margiela x Reebok Classic.

Deconstructed then put back together.

Bought a few pairs. I love them.

Flashback to 35 years ago when I was a kid and I got a pair of Reebok Hexalite. Their Nike Air competing sole at the time I think. I remember stepping into them for the very 1st time and I even remember the shop and the awe of how amazingly comfortable they were. Very much like those.

Anyone else remember the Hexalite sole?

I remember Hexalite. Don't think there was much technology in it and the cushioning unit was tiny.

The better reebok gimmick was the pump biggrin

Hexalite was pretty good, I had them in the dual pump runner. Probably the lightest shoe I've ever owned.

ERS was decent too, when I finally wrecked the ERS 2000 I cut them open to see what it was, and it was horizontal rubbery plastic tubes.

These arrived today, I was surprised the grey on them is actually a suede-type material which is a nice contrast to the leather silver bits. Some nice details, logo on the back is a solid plastic bubble Air Jordan logo.

Best thing about them though is the solid metal Jordan "Jumpman", I'd missed that when I bought them but's it's a very nice thing (not that I'll be walking around with it on the shoes rofl)

I have the high version (the co.jp) and I'm too scared to wear them because I suspect they'd be ruined within 15 minutes of sliding my feet into them smile
