It's certainly one of the council types favourite traits, being unable to spell, or indeed intentionally spelling a childs name in a ridiculous way.
Maybe it's because they can't spell and hence write it as they think it's spelt. Or it's to be different and quirky or whatever.
Coming from the other direction, I posted this in Vol. 5 some years ago:-Maybe it's because they can't spell and hence write it as they think it's spelt. Or it's to be different and quirky or whatever.
I'm not sure if it was on here or another forum, but a few years ago a poster's wife, who was a reception class teacher reported on a new pupil:-
T: And what is your little angel's name?
Mother: Whyvonnee
T: Pardon?
M: Whyvonnee
T: Sorry, how do you spell that?
M: Y.V.O.N.N.E of course!
T: Oh, you mean Yvonne.
M. Nah, you spell it Whyvonnee so you say it Whyvonnee!!!

Indeed, all names given to children in Iceland must be approved by the Icelandic naming committee, and are listed in a book of Icelandic names. The committee was established in 1991 to ensure all names abide by Icelandic grammatical rules and to Icelandic culture.
Just had a look on that list, my 2 year olds name is on there and approved. the-norseman said:

Funny you should mention that but my name is spelt in an unusual way because my father thought everyone would be so illiterate by the time I grew up that they'd spell it correctly incorrectly. Maybe it's because they can't spell and hence write it as they think it's spelt. Or it's to be different and quirky or whatever.

Our friends daughter may be up there; she became pregnant, the three guys who she had, had on the same day, not all at the same time (she's not that kind of girl) all had to take a paternity test to find out who was the father.HTP99 said:

What a lovely, well-raised young woman to make her suitors queue at the door instead of all joining in with some sort of free-for-all - she'll go far. CKY said:
