Ed Straker's car in UFO was an old Ford Granada with a very heavy metal shell. The gull wing doors never actually worked so all the shots of them opening were framed so that you could not see the rigger holding them open.nerd

As a ten year old it was a toss up (excuse the expression) between the Discovery spacecraft in "2001" and Gabrielle Drake in "UFO".

Looking at that picture of Ms Drake, she seems AWFULLY young. She did mature quite gracefully and was one of the reasons why I also liked "The Brothers" and "Kelly Monteith". I even saw her in a stage production of "Noises Off" back in 1983 - and very nice she was in real life too.

Where is she now I wonder?

Unfortunately Wanda Wentham has NOT aged well. She was all right back then though.
There was also a nice looking girl called Ayesha Brough in the SHADOW submarine crew - who wore a string vest !!!!!!

You can see that Gerry Anderson was making up for lost time when he(metaphorically speaking) got his hands on REAL actors.

I saw her in Noises Off back then as well.

A more mature Miss Drake.

She was in Heartbeat in 2006 so she is still out there.

I still have the programme somewhere.

A more recent picture of the lady - still looking good at 64.

Edited - Croyde got there first. She was appearing at the Yvonne Arnaud thetre in Guildford a few weeks ago. If only I'd known.

Not that I am obsessed but it's always nice to see that someone you had the hots for when she was 26 still looks good nearly 40 years later.

I have to say, Chris Foss' artwork al3ways caught my eye on sci-fi paperbacks in the 70s. Is he still around.

Pah, they don't make sci-fi machinery like they did in the 60s

Bonus points for the name of the machine and its operator ?
