This global warming etc is just to make money off normal people.
Humans are changing the environment why not tax the companies that do it?

It makes no difference if you tax the companies or the individuals because at the end of the day it's the consumer that pays.
All that will happen is the companies will raise their prices to compensate for the extra tax they have to pass on.

People who shout the loudest should wear the 'hairshirt' first (think any number of slebs & politicians who jet everywhere to warns us to reduce consumption)Humans are changing the environment why not tax the companies that do it?

So if nobody buys anything, there will still be a need to raise a certain amount of tax.
Wonder where they will get that from?
No matter how things are arranged, the consumers pay.
Take jet fuel. It is cheaper to travel around the world than get a train 300 miles. That is messed up. And a world trying to save the planet is messed up.Wonder where they will get that from?

Say as consumerism buying more cars to save the planet. All just stupid.

The West is taking steps. The rest of the world don't give more than lip service. Instead, they are trying desperately to get out of grinding poverty and get what we have.
The sooner we cossetted nations realise that the better.

The planet doesn't need saving. If we want to help the planet, then us disappearing asap is probably a good thing.

Hooped earrings in females; the diameter of the hoops are inversely proportional to the number of brain cells possessed by the wearer.
I say females, only because I've only seen them worn by females. If males wear them too, then my likely-unpopular opinion holds even more ground.
Y'mean gypsy hoops? I say females, only because I've only seen them worn by females. If males wear them too, then my likely-unpopular opinion holds even more ground.

A bit that bit of your brain that short circuits when you see a barn find classic that’s obviously more trouble than it’s worth but you daydream about ‘saving’ it.
Hilda in Ugly Betty being a perfect example.

I do wonder about that - we're told that air travel is far more warmist that train travel. So why is train travel so expensive? Surely it would be cheaper if it were greener?Say as consumerism buying more cars to save the planet. All just stupid.
Or is it less warmist only if you look at the amount of fuel per passenger?
What if you included all the infrastructure in between? The rails, and trackbed and ongoing mantenance, all the people required to do that, their travel to work, etc etc...
Something must be making trains comparatively so expensive - what is it?

It's not just the cost of the energy used per journey.Or is it less warmist only if you look at the amount of fuel per passenger?

Railways are expensive to build and maintain, flight paths are basically free.

That's my point. Is air travel actually LESS warmist when you take all that into account?
No it's just more expensive The cost of energy used in construction or railway is probably recouped fairly quickly, the cost of labor and cost of land are far more expensive, but aren't a direct climate change contributer

Let's say you're right and construction energy cost has been recouped.
So all we have left is maintenence. Why is that so expensive? How can it be so expensive without using energy and contributing to climate change?
If you employ someone and make them wear highvis and drive a crewcab pickup up and down the line surely their contribution to climate change (incuding the construction of the pickup!) has to be taken into account as well?
I suppose my unpopular opinion is: If it costs money it contributes to climate change on a proportional basis.
