As I noticed an ever growing number of Ukrainian plated luxury vehicles driving round. I can see a S63AMG on Ukrainian plates out my window right now!

That no fighting age men from Ukraine should be able to settle in the UK under refugee or similar status.

Obviously if they're in a wheelchair allow some latitude. But so long as we are pouring millions of taxpayers money into that conflict, the least Ukrainian men should be doing is everything they can to win.

(Not that they ever will win as Putin's pride will just throw everything, men and weapons wise at it until there's nothing left. And secondly, anecdotally its been suggested to me by someone who should know, that a lot of these "Ukrainians" are actually Russians with dubious papers)

Blue badges for the disabled; usually a piss take.

My local supermarket has a row of disabled bays by the store. They're usually all occupied, blue badges all on display, but there's always someone sat in the car...?

One theory is that the person sat in the car is the disabled person, hence why they're waiting in the car, not pushing a trolley around full of shopping. But if that's the case, surely given the disabled occupant isn't vacating the vehicle and just using it as a sofa while the other occupant does the shop, they'd be better off parking in a regular bay and leaving the disabled space vacant for someone who actually needed the space.

The other theory is that the disabled person has gone in to do the shopping, which begs the question, why is the non-disabled person sat on their arse while the disabled one hauls that heavy trolley around....

The logical answer is that both occupants are disabled, but given by the number of occupied parked cars in the disabled bays at the supermarket, there must be a majority dual-disability couples living in the UK.

The other thing about disabled spaces and blue badge holders.... is it really that hars to park in the space? Mostly they're across the lines and at some on-the-piss angle, usually touching one of the bollards to prevent them from driving through the supermarket window.

I'll get flamed now...

If you want to go really unpopular try discussing neurodivergence / mental health and blue badges.

Not by me...

I agree that the system gets abused. Not sure about the UK but back in Australia people used to get disabled parking permits (blue badges) because they would occasionally need to take their elderly mum to the shops... about twice a year but park in the disabled bays all the time.

I get that not all disabilities are obvious but some people are just taking the piss.

Car parks should just have sensibly sized slots throughout. We binned off invacars as they were demeaning, why not disabled parking spaces?

The problem being lazy fkers will park as close to the store as possible leaving disabled people to walk a lot further - though I fully agree that all spaces should be bigger!!

yes and if you do say anything, invariably you'll get told to eff off in return. The last person to say that to my wife wished he hadn't, they stuck a parking notice on his car right in the vision area and it was one of those ones that you can't peel off easily. Oh how i laugh
Also, a few years ago, two old boys - i say old boys, one was 61 and the other was 68 i think - got into a heated discussion over a disabled parking bay at a supermarket not that far from us, insults were handed out, one guy took offence and clumped the other, who fell down, hit his head and subesquently died. Assailant got 5 years if i remember rightly, so people are just weird when it comes to parking and that sort of thing.

This global warming etc is just to make money off normal people.

Humans are changing the environment why not tax the companies that do it?

Yes and consumers won't buy their products hence they will change their business models to adapt . Taxing people solves nothing besides just making money.

Take jet fuel. It is cheaper to travel around the world than get a train 300 miles. That is messed up. And a world trying to save the planet is messed up.

Say as consumerism buying more cars to save the planet. All just stupid.

The world is not trying to save the planet.

The West is taking steps. The rest of the world don't give more than lip service. Instead, they are trying desperately to get out of grinding poverty and get what we have.

The sooner we cossetted nations realise that the better.

Can we stop this "saving the planet" stuff. We're trying to save humanity. If we do nothing, the planet will be just fine. We'll go extinct, like 95% of species that ever lived, and we'll take many other species with us due to our negligence, but the planet will keep spinning. In a blink of an eye (a few million years or so) there'll be next to no evidence we were ever here, and other species will have taken advantage of our absence. Just like the mammals took advantage of the demise of the dinosaurs 65m years ago.

The planet doesn't need saving. If we want to help the planet, then us disappearing asap is probably a good thing.

Hooped earrings in females; the diameter of the hoops are inversely proportional to the number of brain cells possessed by the wearer.

I say females, only because I've only seen them worn by females. If males wear them too, then my likely-unpopular opinion holds even more ground.

Love them. There is a certain type of woman who would probably cause me no end of distress who I find incredibly attractive.

A bit that bit of your brain that short circuits when you see a barn find classic that’s obviously more trouble than it’s worth but you daydream about ‘saving’ it.

Hilda in Ugly Betty being a perfect example.

I do wonder about that - we're told that air travel is far more warmist that train travel. So why is train travel so expensive? Surely it would be cheaper if it were greener?

Or is it less warmist only if you look at the amount of fuel per passenger?

What if you included all the infrastructure in between? The rails, and trackbed and ongoing mantenance, all the people required to do that, their travel to work, etc etc...

Something must be making trains comparatively so expensive - what is it?

It's not just the cost of the energy used per journey.
Railways are expensive to build and maintain, flight paths are basically free.
