One for the PH hive mind, as I’ve tried a few things and have yet to find what I do like, just what I don’t…

I like Aventus, and have that, but I’m looking for a fresh summer fragrance. So far I’ve found out I don’t like aquatic ones, I do like amber and vanilla (but don’t think they’re particularly summery), and I’m a bit stuck.

Currently have and like:
Aventus
Stronger with you absolutely
JPG Ultra Male

Recently tried D&G Light Blue eau intense (too salty/aqua after a great opening), and a bunch of Penhaligon and PdM, none of which made me want to spend the money.

Also picked up JPG le male elixir, which is quite fresh but doesn’t seem to turn into anything later on (might be my skin, my nose, or just that I should give it another try!).

Any suggestions for a fresh / summer fragrance that isn’t going to end up reminding me of sea weed or cut grass? biggrin
Going to bang the Bentley drum again. I promise I'm not on commission!

https://www.notino.co.uk/bentley/momentum-intense-... £22 for 100ml If you don't like it, it's not a big loss.

I have - it’s ok, but ultimately didn’t seem to smell of much to my nose…

Talking about fresh, clean summery scents.

Anyone familiar with Armani Code Colonia? I got sent a 10ml sample by mistake. It was lovely but when I eventually looked to buy a full bottle it'd been discontinued.

That's a surprise, lasts all day for me and smells strong. I guess it must be a skin type thing.

Always lasts pretty well for me and really strong dirty woody orange smell.

Just got a very mineral sort of scent on me, with what I’m going to call a “warm” scent that stuck around to the end. I didn’t ever really pick up the citrus stuff that’s supposed to be in the top notes.

Some 'Cedar' by LT Pivers arrived from Marseilles yesterday.... I quite like it, I was on the hunt for something unusual.

Creed Erolfa - it either suits you and smells divine, or it doesn't, and smells of pissy toilet duck. I'm in the former camp.

Tom Ford Neroli Portofino - very pleasant.

Will try a sample of both, and the Bentley recommended earlier, and see how I get on. Cheers all.

I’m convinced it’s either my skin or my nose, but I don’t seem to get on with the “normal” nice smelling stuff. I can’t stand tobacco vanille for example - I smell the green / damp tobacco leaf way more than the vanilla.

If you like vanilla try lollita lempika green lover, vanilla and lime to freshen it up a bit

Really decent for the money.

Herod is starting to grow on me.

There's always loads of love for CDNIM so I got a bottle of the Ltd Ed. late 2022 and no matter how much I try it I hardly get anything from it. There's no projection at all. It came in some very fancy packaging form Amazon but I'm wondering if it's a duff batch?

Mine stinks the house out. So just to piss the missis off even more than usual I add a few drops of this before spraying:

It does smell better with the oil

I wore my glasses old school eau d’Issey summer during the day today and thought as I was staying at home I’d remind myself of how Encre Noire. My god it’s got some power, but the reviews on Fragrantica are hilarious. Gravestone, sexy dirt, flipping wet logs while looking for salamanders

Montblanc Explorer is my daily go to. Similar to Creed Aventus but much better value.

I get a lot of compliments when wearing this, it's a great fragrance. I agree similar to Aventus but I do think Aventus is just that extra bit lighter and fresher. You're right though, half (at least?) the cost so not a bad go to.

Same. Really nice, I prefer Aventus but for the price is great.
I can’t tell any difference between this and CDNIM LE though. CDNIM lasts longer and projects much further but I really can’t tell the difference.

Test driving Givenchy Gentleman today and it seems we're on a role with toilet fragrances, I'm getting Dettol top notes with this one rofl (the OG Dettol, amber coloured disinfectant you use on floors). That'll be the patchouli I think.

It's mellowed down now though, doesn't project massively but it's pleasant.

Tried this yesterday at the airport. Started off with a bit piney toilet duck, but dries down pleasantly. Projection didn’t seem great though. Tried VIW on the other arm. Amazing stuff but even less projection and not so long lasting. I’d struggle to justify buying either at their price based on the performance.
