On the age theme (not really shocking)

There are only 7 years age difference between these actors who play mother & daughter

This fact shocked me (and made me weep a little bit).

I'd never heard of thankful villages. They are places where everybody who served in WW1 came home.

There are only 53 in England.

How dangerous the Isle of Man TT race actually is. The last year to not have a fatality was 1982, and before that 1937

A euromillions lottery ticket costs you £2.50. If you win £2 then even as a 'lottery winner' you're worse off than somebody who didn't enter.

It would be far more likely for someone to find a hidden grain on sand anywhere on earth than it would to have a random deck of cards repeat the same sequence as any dealt before it.
When you say 'far more likely', what are the odds of a person finding a specific grain of sand hidden anywhere on earth then? eek
There are better ways of describing that fact. Quite simply if you shuffle the deck and deal the cards the order the cards are in has probably never been seen before and never will be again.

There number of possible orders is 8×10^67, 8 with 67 0s after it.

The Ford Escort Cosworth should have had a triple deck rear spoiler.
It was shelved due to bean counters.... even though it produced 30% more downforce.

Wilfred Bramble was 49 when he played Steptoe (Steptoe and Son). He looked about 80!
In 1971 Frank Zappa was in London filming his movie 200 Motels. When his original bass player walked out Zappa invited Wilfred Bramble to take his place in the film AND play bass. After all, he had just been in a Beatles film. Bramble turned up at the studio, looked around and ran away.

An ex-smoker for many years now, but was both shocked and horrified to find out that the wonderful buzz that you get off the first morning cigarette is not your body welcoming the hit of nicotine. Rather it’s the vasoconstriction due to the carbon monoxide and dioxide that you inhale reducing the blood flow to your brain. Way less “drug abuse sexy”.

In both cases there is no way they were the actual first. They will just be the first member of public. There will have been plenty of tests prior by the manufacturer/installers.

Vasily Blokhin, a Russian officer for the NKVD. Arguably no-one has single handedly executed more people than Blokhin, the number is in the tens of thousands. In April 1940 he personally executed 7000 people as part of the Katyn massacre. He executed someone every 3 minutes for 10 hours straight over the course of the month.

My wife has carried both my children and any grandchildren we might be blessed with inside her.

We are all hybrids of each other. Only before birth can you really claim that a person has no interference to their DNA.

Anything that puts something else’s cells onto your body will cause micromutations.
