Er, I may have bought an air rifle in totally unnecessary tactical spec.

Somehow seems much less frivolous given the previous submissions.

Now, if I could just get a 100"+ outdoor TV for the football and an air rifle to take pot shots at squirrels while sitting in my sex pond, I'd really be a winner*.

Have you bought a compressor or hand pump. Get a compressor.

Also for unnecessary air rifles see mine on the tools thread. . . It’s got a usb c socket ! Unnecessary as I’ve got three and it’s just for squirrels!

I havea dive bottle, so no issues filling. I already have a very nice and perfectly adequate BSA R10, hence this one being frivolous...

I never understood the obsession with guns, even air rifles, but then I went shooting, my god it's addictive! We played with an air powered pistol, then a few rifles including one with a scope, then went onto shotguns. I had such a blast!

Although once I'd gotten home and researched some prices I quickly changed my mind

My setup cost me less than £500 all in....
Baikal (Soviet era) with modern style single trigger over/under setup - £200

Licence and medical etc - £100

Police approved cabinet from UK company BrattonSound (avoiding the cheap Chinese made cabinets) - £200

The US attraction to firearms makes a little more sense when you consider that they can pick up a new AR-15 for £285.

And we don’t need to worry about trivial things such as police approved cabinets. smile

I’m currently building an L1A1/SLR to replicate/honour the one my father was issued in The Scot’s Guards.

Quite an enjoyable process to create the rifle. It’ll shoot pretty poorly in comparison to any of my modern ones, but will more than make up for that shortfall in the pleasure of having something my father used.

I’m US based before anyone gets a little excited….

One could argue then, that a purchase of one would be quite frivolous in itself!

I also bought a cabinet....but that's common sense.

Was tempted by an FN build, but then I'm tempted by a lot of things.

Indeed!

No kids, or kids visiting this household. Otherwise my approach could be different.

I have a perfectly good 640d, I did not need another GT.

Not frivolous - you needed a PETROL GT.

Looks lovely! smile

Whilst I agree it looks lovely I thought the unwritten rules of this thread was that cars, bikes etc were banned. Can’t remember a time when people posted them anyway, I’d say all of mine are frivolous but never posted here (I think/hope!)

Traction engines, hovercraft, jet powered trikes etc are different gravy. But buying a car to drive on the roads is a bit, well, unfrivolous.

I’ve deleted my post. I don’t spend much time on PH these days, the unwritten rules can be difficult to follow. The Range Rover posted further up this page without complaint suggested this was not an unwritten rule! Not sure buying a car to drive on the roads cannot be considered frivolous though.
