That’s a lovely idea. I did idly look up “long range metal detectors” a few months ago; all I found were scammers selling divining rods for prospecting.

OP, I'm very sorry about this tragic situation. All I can add is to say that, unfortunately, that sort of metal detection method isn't realistic. The device in the link above is a neat idea that someone is testing but it is not being used for mine clearance in Ukraine or anywhere else. I won't bore on about why. I'm simply posting because it's a blind alley in this instance, I'm afraid.
