Crossword app lists five, though the first two alphabetically are very obscure.

Personally I’ve yet to see a plural answer so if s is an option use it last.

Yes, and if you've got the first four right on the third line then you've used one of these so you've only got two to guess from with three lines left.

My wife does, but I like the challenge of trying something original every time. I think there's more chance of getting it in one that way (not that I have yet).

The chance of getting it on one is so small that and changing words makes no difference.
4 for me today. Been a few tricky ones recently.
I got nothing on my first word, one on the second, four on the third then done.

Yes, and if you've got the first four right on the third line then you've used one of these so you've only got two to guess from with three lines left.

Yes he has used one once but you can use letters more than once. Hence the 3 letters can be used at the end to get to 6th line.

If there are only 3 end letters that can make a valid 5 letter word, his 3rd go with the first 4 letters correct already used one of those

I just go with whatever I feel like and they aren’t even tactical to pick up lots of vowels, so today I started with GHOST, helped in getting it in 3.

Mostly 3s and 4s. I have a few different starter words I switch between. It's luck a lot of the time when there are multiple options.
