Pedal faster.
What would that achieve?
Getting there in less time.
Oh, okay, cool. Thanks.

If say, I had, three kids, a pavlova, dog, and a selection of artisanal cheeses.

As an eager contributor to society, which method would you recommend?
If you’re having to transport all of these then surely the car is the economic method. tho your offspring might travel free on the train or bus (I don’t know about these things) you and the Mrs will have to pay. Controlling three kids and a dog on public transport would be a handful, with a mind that one hand is already balancing a pavlova and the cheeses might prove to be antisocial on crowded public transport.

Other option of course is to forget your distant friends and make new ones within short stroll of your home.

Our friends live in the next town over.

10 miles away.

Bus - 50 mins - Unknown price
Public transport require planning, (I’m reasonably remote also)

Curious to how you know it’s 50min yet unknown price?

Where I am searching an app at different times of the day gives different routes, as services don’t run, meaning I might have 2 sides of a triangle to do instead of one when direct services are not operating. Do you know if there is a direct service between the two towns (might mean leaving a party early though my mate does that to get last bus home)

Too many children. The globe can't cope with the population growth.

Don't need a dog. Too many people have got too many dogs.

Now - try again.
They weren't my children, I was collecting them along the way.

What would you say the cost to drive 10 miles is?

Any self respecting PHer sends his man out to collect his dinner guests and escort them through to the drawing room at the appointed time for a snifter before support is served.

Bikes, train times, the cost of porridge... who on earth knows what the OP is wibbling on about.

Oh I remember this one.

First you take the pavlova and the cheese.
Then you come back and get the dog and one kid.
Drop them off. Then you take back the cheese and pavlova. Then you leave them at your original starting point but transport the two remaining kids. Fibslly return to get the pavlova and the cheeses.

......but his statement is largely correct.
Essex is that lump of land past East London where commuters live - albeit a few of the more wealthy live in very nice villages.
Geographically, it can be identified as South East but people shouldn't get carried away with any other thoughts about the county!

How have you arrived at a calculation of £3 for a car but negligible for leccy?

If you take them in pairs which ones can't be left together? I only know the fox/goat/cabbage and fox/goose/beans versions.
