Globes sometimes show mountain ranges, but in reality the lowest to highest point on the planet isn’t much over ten miles and to scale, the surface is smoother than a billiard ball.

Australia is wider then the moon.

It is illegal to own a single guinea pig in Switzerland.

The heart of a shrimp is in it's head.

It would be far more likely for someone to find a hidden grain on sand anywhere on earth than it would to have a random deck of cards repeat the same sequence as any dealt before it.

The Holocaust. I was probably around eleven and off school sick watching daytime TV. I am not sure if it was a program for schools or perhaps an episode of The World at War. It was about the liberation of the death camps. There was footage of dead bodies piled up and the survivors in rags (just skin and bone). I knew the Germans were the “bad” guys but had had no idea of the evil they had perpetrated. I think my faith in humanity took a fatal hit that day and has never really recovered.
The Holocaust is a shocking event - humanity’s low point.

The fact that shocked me about it is that it killed over a third of the Jewish population worldwide

Two thirds of the European Jewish population. Gone.

Mind boggling.

This is not all that shocking, but all of the UK is further north than the main body of the USA.

Edinburgh is further west than Bristol.

Those figures are rounded and dumbed down to the point of being incorrect.

When you say 'far more likely', what are the odds of a person finding a specific grain of sand hidden anywhere on earth then? eek
