Sorry Mickey, I'm not sure I understand the question. For me, (greatly oversimplifying it) science seems to consist chiefly of eliminating the impossible. What remains is by inference possible.
And since eliminating the impossible is itself questionable we ought to assume that human ignorance is a reliable default state.
