My wife raised an annoyance earlier, whilst travelling through town...
Parents pushing child in pushchair or pram, child staring up at parent but not getting any response because the ‘adult’ is paying attention to their phone, listening on ear buds, and missing out on interacting with their charge. Sad state of affairs.

When searching on Google for a website (such as pistonheads) in the results you get a message "you visit often". I know I do, that why I'm on here, to find and access a regularly used website that i want to visit. Theres about 4 forums I visit several times a day. What benefit is it to tell me that???
Annoys me every time I see it.![furious](/inc/images/furious.gif)

This is an interesting thing. My wife works with children with developmental issues. The primary schools have a surprisingly high amount of them now. The unofficial term is 'the covid kids' and they are those who got so little social interaction at home during lockdowns that they have no idea how to behave around other children. They can't write, speak properly, and often have to be separated as they constantly hit the other children. Yes. It a pretty basic concept, that we were told in our very early days of getting ready for parenthood: Talk to your babies/toddlers and they will talk sooner and better, and it will pay dividends later on. Add in lots of reading to and with them for extra benefit. So easy to achieve.Parents pushing child in pushchair or pram, child staring up at parent but not getting any response because the ‘adult’ is paying attention to their phone, listening on ear buds, and missing out on interacting with their charge. Our kids are both highly articulate and exceeding at school, and I am pretty certain there's a link there!

I take my 5yr old daughter to swimming classes on Sunday mornings, and there is a waiting/viewing area for parents. I'd say 90% of them stare at their phones for the entire 40 minutes.Parents pushing child in pushchair or pram, child staring up at parent but not getting any response because the ‘adult’ is paying attention to their phone, listening on ear buds, and missing out on interacting with their charge. There is one couple who have a toddler who is too young to swim, so he waits with the parents while his sibling is in the class, and he's such a bright bubbly friendly boy, and you can see he is crying out for attention, but both of his parents simply do not look up from their phones, and he's running round the place trying to entertain himself. I have to bite my tongue every week to stop myself telling them to just put the f
