Different people like different things. I bet some would feel the same about whatever music you like.

I don't like Greta Thunberg. I find her extremely hostile and naive. I also hate all the pandering done to her.
Perhaps not a particularly unpopular opinion.

You don't need to like her, but the real question is do you think she is saying something important that needs to be listened to?

My (unpopular?) observation is that people that claim to dislike her actually dislike what she is saying.

i do think we need to do something about the climate, and not just incremental change yes. I totally disagree that it is the fault of every individual over 16 that we are in this mess, and that they should be blamed and made to feel wrong, stupid or evil. For me she stands more for the latter point than the former.

I dislike her AND I dislike what she is saying. Even if you accept the IPCC's most pessimistic projections, Greta's warnings are way over the top.

I find her awful whatever she's saying.

My unpopular opinion is I couldn't care less about GW, co2, or any of that crap, bores the hell out of me.

She is autistic and a child
Exactly, so she should be back home in a special needs school, where she belongs. Not being used as a political pawn.
This.

Which brings me to an unpopular opinion I express quite regularly.

The planet is experiencing climate change, but it's population driving it, not what the population is doing.
We allow uncontrolled reproduction. Why?
Greta will expect to have children which is only going to place a greater demand on the world's finite resources. Sterilising her will help prevent passing on her "autistic" gene.

Wars? We need more of them. Bigger and more violent than before.
Coronavirus from China? Let it run it's course.
It would be strangely sweet if Greta was a victim.

She isn’t autistic. She has Aspergers and as far as I know was in a normal school in Sweden. She seems to have a better command of the English language than many posters on PH so your suggestion is as laughable as your opinion.

The title of the thread was unpopular opinions. You have just outed yourself as a mainstream PHer with those views.

Some one mentioned population increase. I'm always banging on about this yet its seldom mentioned elsewhere.

If the world population was a overweight person...and getting bigger, would we look for ways of affording more food, getting bigger cloths or even buying stronger furniture etc? No,we would say how about stopping the growth and maybe even reducing the size.

So why not a discussion on over population?

The benefits system (for job seekers) should be overhauled. A seeker gets the full weekly amount - whatever that may be - upon receipt of x number of hours community service. With a sliding scale (in £ received) downwards based upon the number of hours dedicated to said community service.

Fag packet maths = jobseekers receive the full amount in return for approx 3 days / 21 hours local litter picking, graffiti washing, chewing gum removal tasks, etc. - the rest of the time making up a 'full time' week can be dedicated to standard JS tasks, job applications, etc. You only show up for 50% of the time? You get half the handout.

I've worked across central London councils briefly, and the belief held by some of the poorest people, who are conditioned to believe they are fully entitled to live in prime central London areas (Westminster, Kensington&Chelsea) with fully paid-up housing completely baffles me. The majority of 'white collar' workers cannot afford to live here, so why should people on state hand-outs live in such desirable locations?

In addition, and this is something I feel strongly about, the Foo Fighters are proper st ... I don't get the appeal at all
My unpopular opinion is that people with opinions like this should have to live under those conditions themselves for a year. Treating people like criminals because they're involuntarily out of work is not acceptable. It would surely be more useful to help them back to work rather than punish people when they're out of work. There's also no reason to deliberately and callously create enclaves for the wealthy. No reason at all there shouldn't be social housing in every area. Some of my ancestors were extremely poor but came from places like Pimlico and Chelsea. Cleansing people from their native areas for the benefit of incomers would be despicable.

But you're right about the Foo Fighters. Boring.

Me too, and yes she's being used as a puppet.

I don't recall her being voted spokesperson for the planet.

One for all of the West Wing fans. It's "Foo Fighters", not "the Foo Fighters" (In the same way that people say "Dire Straits, not "the Dire Straights".

Is that a fact. I shall continue calling them the Foo Fighters in that case.
