I walk my kids to school in the morning, we take a varied route through woodland, along streams, up small alley ways.
The alley ways are all now unpassable, it’s happened really quickly in the last week (was half term)
I live in the same village as a kid, all the routes were done daily on my bike from the age of about 5-18
The cutbacks (haha) really are noticeable, open play fields are now just brambles and essentially a waste of space (I appreciate the wildlife probably likes it), might as well build houses on it now as it was a usable space which it isn’t now

Our council have sort of thought about thus but made a bit of a hash. In many places they mowed the edge to maintain visibility and left a bit in the centre to grow.
But they've either missed or decided not to do the most important parts where there are junctions from estates pulling out on to NSL roads. Visibility has been reduce by about 40m as you can't see them in the distance.
May be a different highway authority for the NSL to the estate. Just a possibility. As for the sight line though, as a (retired) developer/designer we used to get all sorts of hassle about sight lines yet they allow them to be reduced by long grass etc once adopted. But they've either missed or decided not to do the most important parts where there are junctions from estates pulling out on to NSL roads. No reason why you can't go and do a bit of community gardening although the green party might complain about damaging habitat.
Local chap tried that and got complaints from local eco-warriors, who grassed (sorry ...) him up to the council. He has had a few official letters, but he still does the odd bit of trimming back, mainly to annoy the eco bods I think ![laugh](/inc/images/laugh.gif)

I now have to walk in the road because of the growth of weeds along some sections of hedgerow. I'd take something to cut it back with, but I'm generally walking to the pub, and going there with bladed articles is frowned upon these days, apparently.droopsnoot said:

A cat has gone into someone's garden. A very clean cat apparently.
Apparently it 'must' be lost and 'looks like' an indoor cat. Can people spread the word?
It’s not scoping the place out with a view to stealing their dog, is it??Apparently it 'must' be lost and 'looks like' an indoor cat. Can people spread the word?

A drone will later come along and look for the bags, and then direct the men with ven in to pinch the dogs
That’s what happens here (sadly minus the cat) if you believe Lucy and Jenny from long lane

What was that Carl Hiassen novel where the baddie got his hand bitten off by a barracuda and replaced it with a miniature petrol strimmer, hidden by a golf bag cover? I made the mistake of reading it on a plane (unsociable laughter ensued)
Don't remember that one, but his books are hilariousGassing Station | The Lounge | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
