Or, if you were posh like me hehe

Ooh, that plate! It could have been retained and I could have dreamt of Lotus 7s again.

cloud9
It was wasted on me at the time biggrin
And while it was being retained my dad wouldn't have moaned about how much space it was taking up.

He probably could, thinking about it.

If you scrape the heads off matches, the scrapings do a good gunpowder impersonation, or at least they did in the 1970s.
That’s another reminder, used to get 2 bolts and a nut ,screw nut on bolt 2 threads then scrape match heads into nut ,screw other bolt in and carefully tighten, throw bolt hard at wall ,BANG
Which in turn reminds me of the plastic, sometimes metal, rockets you could buy, that took caps. Some had a space for the paper-roll caps, others you put one of the small yellow caps on the nose. You threw it up, it came back down and.... bang!

Hours of fun!

(Or until you ran out of all the caps your meagre pocket money could afford hehe )

Could you knock me up a fake pass for the school Chess Club, please? It was one of the few ways to be inside at lunchtime when it was raining.

Small plastic toys floating around in breakfast cereals like frosties and coco pops.

I was blown away by a small plastic car that had 7 or 8 pieces you had to assemble, and by these

I remember Cornflakes doing a series of tiny model airliners in kit form. They were very cool.

I remember a customer of my Dad's proudly coming in with his new "mobile phone"

With a huge grin, he produced a large briefcase and opened it to show a receiver and large battery pack attached to it. With this mythical device, he could call anyone from anywhere.

Magic, I tell thee.

I had a WW2 air raid siren that worked off my bicycle wheel. Gawd it was loud.

I also had an Acetylene lamp. (At least I think that's what it was). You dropped a solid into water & it made a highly flammable gas. Whoever thought giving that to a six year old boy was a good idea? hehe

I spotted that when looking for the picture smile

Well in fairness I spotted two things . First was a Google link asking if caps were still legal in the UK, stating they weren't. Second was a link to buy them from Amazon hehe
