A few people within the frivolous community have listed their spending transgressions citing a predilection for radio-controlled models....

There have been some fine examples of excess, but I put to the collective the following...

any interest in this?

Does anyone have the cojones to sneak that past their other half?

Unfortunately, I don't have the space... or the cojones!

I do think even at the BIN price it is worth it... how much would that have cost to build in the first place??
Blimey it’s certainly a monster that’s for sure.

As you said biggest issue is just that, The sheer size of the thing, I think only a proper hangar or industrial unit would be suitable for stowage of something that colossal!

Multi engine planes are very hard to fly too, and even though they are what looks like essentially large petrol strimmer type engines that can be quite hard to start and get them all running at the same relative speeds for power output balance.

It’s really the type of model only to be used by an Experienced scale model show flight crew, for public flight displays at shows like Weston Park.

It’s an ace thing though,I wonder if it will actually get bought?
have sent the link to a friend who has a massive collection including jet engined aircraft hehe
Saleen - If anything ever happens on that front can you update?

Perhaps a separate thread if it is being restored to flight worthiness... would be epic to see something of that size in flight!

I did find something on YouTube with a slightly smaller C130 made in USA and that seemed to fly really smoothly...

Not sure if this counts..

me and my other half have been out of work since March 2020, thanks to the bd bug. I had a perfectly reasonable 2016 Civic Diesel which returned 75mpg if driven carefully. The sun had been shining quite nicely in June so i decided i needed something where i could take advantage of such weather.

so, i chopped in my ideal economical family commuting car for something less sensible..

3.0 inline 6 cylinder twin turbo petrol, with no rear seats and a boot not even big enough for a cat basket.

Nice. Best looking recent BMW in my opinion.

I'm currently looking for the files. Seemingly it'll take a week to print then no doubt another to stick together and paint.
Substantially longer than that. There's examples on reddit of people 3D printing iron man armor and spending weeks.

I printed a glock lower and it took 3 days.

I saw that Halo figure. Agree with Jim it will take weeks to print.
I printed a Mando helmet, the 8 main pieces took an average of a day (18-28 hrs) each. The detail bits x 3 around 10 hrs each. Glueing it together and then sanding and filling is taking longer.

Are you building it with a real barrel, slide and FCG? I assume that youre adding metal inserts into the printed lower?

There's me thinking why would anyone want a 7ft tall John Torode or Gregg Wallace, then I realised I'd misread!

I'm glad someone else read it as that as well.... biggrin

Meanwhile, not especially frivolous given it was £50, but it does need some work and neither I, nor him indoors have the first clue about boats. If you can offer any suggestion please do so on the thread I just posted in the boats bit. Apparently my suggestion of 'fill it with soil and I'll have another planter' is unacceptable. My other boat with the plants is called 'Orion'. Sticking with the Metallica theme I want to call this one St Angler.....

A planter or a bench of some sort would work well smile

Unfortunately he is adamant this one is going on the water, so it will need to be restored. It will look nice tethered to the pier to be fair, assuming we can figure out how to fix it.

Good luck SoP, you need to find someone who knows fibreglass for that one, or it will turn into the titanic! It may be beyond help already.

Yeah. One big issue is that repair it so it floats - and then by leaving it out uncovered it'll gradually fill with rainwater and sink...

Don't think he's planning on leaving it on the water permanently, more keeping it covered down the side of the house.

Frivolity wink

No seriously, there are parts of the pond we could do with getting to, to weed etc. General maintenance. Can’t reach them without a boat.

Pond? How big a pond do you have to require a boat??

Goes off to the left of this photo as well. Think we measured it at about 200ft side to side including the wetland bits at the edge. More of a small lake really.
