Juvenile things that make you snigger (Vol. 3)
Discussion
We have friends over from (near) LA and one thing they've missed since moving over the pond is a half reasonable takeaway curry. Apparently they just can't do them over there at all despite numerous attempts.
My wife is a creature of habit and always punts for Vegetable bhuna.
Much to my childish delight. Last night she was eating Vag Bhuna....

Rest of the order for anyone who cares:
Poppadoms
Samosas
Onion bhajis
2 pilau rice
Pashwari naan
2x garlic naan
Chicken tikka masala (apparently this is my friends "control" curry)
Chicken tikka madras
Chicken tikka Ceylon (mine)
Vag Bhuna (Mrs A)

I found the same when living in CA. I made my own instead and mostly converted to Mexican food when I wanted some spice... something they do very well indeed if you find the right place.Ambleton said:

Indeed. They spend 2 years in CA (redwood city). Mexican food over there is excellent. The best and often cheapest are usually the places where they don't speak English and it's full of mexicans!Ambleton said:

Quite agree... I was in Palo Alto and just asked the gardeners where they ate, and it was excellent.Rusty Old-Banger said:

I often walked down four blocks in San Bernardino to a cheap Mexican diner for breakfast. The food and coffee were just sublime and they opened at five in the morning.
It's very popular with hospital workers, being about half a mile from an enormous hospital.
On one occasion I took my Dad along and was having a nice chat with Maria the owner when I noticed Dad looking at me with a weird expression.
- What's the matter?
- I've known you all your life and I had no idea you spoke Spanish!
