The 2024 Noteworthy Deaths Thread

One thing for sure, don't die on the last day of the year (ie: in this case, 30 Dec 2023) or you'll get missed in more ways than one:
like on lists of the dead on Sgt Pepper update, and even on PH's long-running thread of Celebrity deaths, or as it is now called 'Noteworthy' (lol).
Even if you 'go' at just 69 years old.

And no, she's not 69 in the above pic!

US actress Cindy Morgan. Probably most famous for roles in 'Tron' and 'Caddyshack', but also many single episode guest appearances on 1980s TV shows like CHiPS, The Fall Guy, and a run (or two) in Falcon Crest.
Natural causes, according to Palm Beach County Sheriff's Department, found by her "room mate" (house share?) on return from holiday, she'd possibly been dead for a few days before being discovered on December 30th 2023. Sad, really, and although her work was well known in it's day, probably not one of the bigger 'names' in showbizland.
Franz Beckenbaur, German football legend, age 78
https://www.theguardian.com/football/2024/jan/08/f...
Franz Beckenbauer, widely regarded as one of the finest footballers of all time, and one of only two men to win the World Cup as a player and manager, has died aged 78.
Beckenbauer is an icon of German football having won 104 caps for West Germany, captaining them to glory at the 1974 World Cup before repeating the feat, as manager, in Italy 16 years later. He also won numerous other honours, including a hat-trick of European Cups with Bayern Munich in the mid-70s, when he also established his reputation as a defender of supreme talents.
Nicknamed ‘Der Kaiser’, Beckenbauer was as elegant as he was dominant, and such was his assurance in possession that he came to master the modern sweeper role, or libero. More so, he is credited with creating it.

Singer James Morrison's partner, Gill Catchpole, has been found dead.

Just 45.![frown](/inc/images/frown.gif)
Morrison's had some tough demons to deal with over the years, like the loss of his father who died of liver complications brought on by alcohol addiction, shortly before both his older brother and 21-year-old nephew also died within the space of a year.

It's quite often worth saying who has died, too ![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
Apols. I know, but I don't live on here like some, although having been on PHs probably longer than the majority. ![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
In truth, I had limited time this morning and was in a rush but luckily I can hit the (normal size) keys of my PC pretty fast even at my age.
(I rarely, if ever, post from my i-phone)
Hint:
If you're ever stuck with a just a pic and no name, click on pic and go to 'search the web for this image'.
Maj of time you'll get not just the answer, but a tell you all story in a couple clicks.

Everyone’s dying. So it seems anyway. All those people you thought were sporting greats and icons.
Yep, the ones who were 'fit as a fiddle' in their day, who you'd think would outlast many, but do not. And some like JPR Williams who had been described as incredibly fit, not just in ‘his day’, but the very fact that he played for Tondu until 2003 well into his 50s. He was also a very talented sportsman beyond rugby, being a serious tennis player, too.
So to the hints from 'so-called health experts’ that for longevity I should be out daily ‘running miles’, I’ll pass thanks!
Mind you, on the other side of the (footie) coin you get Zagallo of Brazil making it to the ripe ol’ age of 92.
