A little confused by people being surprised by certain matches - you set your own parameters.

I’ve had 3 girls who I’d met on Tinder/Bumble contacting me this week via WhatsApp wanting to go out. Obviously summers over.

Not quite true!
If the bloke is using the scatter gun method then its down to the female to choose you on Tinder.
Therefore sad faces if its only the older ones selecting you.

Can everyone stop calling women 'females' please?

It's awful.

yes babymama/bhes are now the prevelant terms in popular culture so we should surely use them. As women love artists like Drake, they must approve of the terms.

Hey Petrus, are you going to take up any of those 3 booty calls hehe

What an appalling word. Just serves to highlight a culture where having no connection to the woman further to getting her knocked up and probably none with the child either is so prevalent it has it's own term.

I mean my father pissed off when I was a baby too, but as he just wasn't there I didn't need a term for that.

Jesus Christ, shut up. I've heard plenty of "babydaddy" too. Do people really just look for ANYTHING to be offended about these days?
Yes exactly, the absentee father, that's my whole point, thanks. I'm not sure you really understand the term, or have heard it used in a looser context. It's not simply a reference to your partner, rather the person with whom you produced a child but are no longer in a romantic relationship with.

As it happens I’m just walking into town now - she’s made a 2.5hour drive and booked a hotel - awesome stuff.

Pretty sure an upsurge this time of year is a documented phenomenon.

Darker evenings, colder, worse weather.

The female of the species who have been spending their summer evenings in beer gardens and out for walks, are now looking for someone to curl up in front of the fire or Tv with.

A bit like spiders, but less predictable
Totally this.
Winter clothes hide the tonnage, to some extent.

Looking for some schmuck to ream for Christmas presents.

If you're referring to my post, then they aren't women I've matched with. I wasn't getting any matches at all, so I paid for tinder gold to see who had swiped right on me. All women a lot older than me. I've nothing against older women per se, but these are all rougher than 40 grit! Tempting to post a screenshot, but I think that's pretty bad form, assuming they are genuine profiles. I guess that's just the calibre of woman that I attract. I'm not picky on tinder either (probably swipe right 9 out of 10 times), but I've not had a genuine match on there in months. Only had one date come from tinder in 12 months, and I'm pretty sure that was only because she was at a loose end one evening.

This is a new user name, but I have contributed to the match.com threads over the last couple of years.

Anyway. I had much fun dating probably 40-45 women over an 18 month period. A couple of those turned into short term relationships.

In June, I upped the age limit of my search and matched with someone on match. She had joined that day.

We exchanged so many messages over the next couple of weeks it was insane, but for various reasons weren’t able to meet.

When we did it really was love at first sight. We have been pretty much inseparable since and now live together.

We are getting married in 2020 - both lreviously divorces.

Don’t give up gents. There are some good ones out there . I have never been happier (the fact that she is a tiny ex gymnast is largely irrelevant, but a nice bonus :-) )

I'm not so sure. This is related to Bumble.

I work 20 miles away from where I live. I have set my profile to a 20mile radius. So I don't swipe at lunchtime or anything, because potential matches could be 40 miles away and that's too far for me.

However, more than a few times the app has matched me with someone who would be outside 20miles from my home. (say 35miles) Granted, they could have been nearer to where I live at the moment I was idly swiping. But I suspect there's some sort of algorithm that if you haven't had any matches for a while (whether no bites, or inactivity) it will take someone that has liked you and say you've matched.

I also find that it often "matches" me with ladies that I would be unlikely to swipe right on. But whom do match my height and age criteria. So I suspect something is up.

Haven't used Tinder for months as it seems to be full of fake profiles or Russians laugh POF got binned longer ago than that, as it was the same 20 girls who were showing up in my searches. (All online in the last few days so not dead profiles)

Hinge has been interesting, but nothing has gone to real life meet yet.

TBH, I don't really have the spare time currently to go through the rigmarole of first and second dates. Also, whilst I am "over" the last girl I was dating, I find myself comparing any new friend to her. Simply because (personality issues aside wink ) we were very similar in terms of outlook and interests. Which makes me positive that there must be other ladies out there with the same commonalities.

Anyone else noticed a sudden upsurge in interest from the apps?

This last week I'm getting a lot more matches and a lot more interest. Not changed anything on the profile, haven't had any "swipe binges" for a while, and tbh not that bothered in pursuing anything currently. Also a lot of the ladies don't seem able to answer a question and then ask a question in return to help keep the conversation going. Or in the case of several ask basic questions that are already on my profile (What do you do for a job?)

Which just kills any motivation to bother even more!

But it's like all the single ladies (all the single ladies biggrin) synchronised to get back on it.

I was perplexed until a married friend remarked that his wife had already bought his Christmas present. We decided the timing would explain it. They don't want to be that single girl at Christmas.

Also Facebook just notified me with a "Friend suggestion" that was the last girl I dated! Nah, you're alright! laugh
