His agent David Shaul told Variety, external he was an "outstanding human being".

He continued: "He would literally give you the shirt off his back.

But apparently not his catalytic convertor.
Classy comment.

I saw him with some kids getting his Gold Blue Peter Badge only a couple of days ago and thought it must be near. Huge respect to the guy and Sir Kev.

RIP Rob Burrows
The news has really made me sad.
Condolences to his wife and family and especially his special friend Kevin Sinfield .
Hopefully all the work done by Rob and Kevin will help find some way of halting this awful condition.

Bugger frown

I was always a fan of Leaue and super league more than i was Union and while i wasn't a Leeds fan, you could never dismiss his achievments on the field.
Rugby has lost a legend and MND has lost a titan of fund raising.

Not a sports fan usually but this is terribly sad news.
I hope that his family, and Kevin Sinfield can take some solace from all their efforts.

One of my wife’s work colleagues died of this a couple of years ago , he went from a very fit and active 52 year old to communicating with his eyes within two years , it’s an awful condition.

Not seen it mentioned, but Ron Ayers MBE, aerodynamicist for Thrust SSC and Bloodhound projects died on the 29th of May.

Thanks. I missed the reporting of that.

Designing a vehicle that remained stable when breaking the sound barrier across the ground was quite an achievement.

That's sad to read. I went to his lecture at UMIST on the Thrust SSC project after they broke the record and had a chat with him, he let me hold the wind tunnel model they used and explained how it worked, long after the lecture was over. A really nice guy and clearly very clever.

Went to a talk at RAE Farnborough back in 1997 where they were doing some of the testing and got to meet Mr Ayres. He had also been involved in the devlopment of the Blackburn Buccaneer which might explain some of the similarities between the two designs.

The only significant difference is that the Buccaneer had wings and flew even closer to the ground (only joking).

A friend's father had an engineering company somewhere locally and did some parts for SSC. He was given a model in a plexiglass case, which I have at home somewhere.

Given his diminutive size, the fact that he was such a good player in rugby league and played for England really highlighted his grit, determination and skill, so to then suffer such an ignoble end is particularly tragic.

The outstanding, long-term friendship with Kevin Sinfield is truly heartwarming. Rob suffered the disease yet Kevin took it upon himself to mitigate it as much as possible and put himself through so much to help Rob raise awareness.

A pair of remarkable people.
