Seems a bit odd, but what does 'operational tour' mean. Different things to different people.
A tour in a recognised war zone, i.e Afghanistan, Iraq, Northern Ireland, Bosnia etc.
Agreed. The bloke isn't questioning his service or how many tours he did though. He seems to be questioning if he had been "in combat".
Seems odd to me, I think the chap has done something, although I'm not sure it matters too much. His well done letter is a bit strange to put out, more something for his 1RO.
Anyway broke up a pretty dull campaign.

I’m not sure how much of the nonsense Adderley is personally responsible for circulating, but it would’ve taken him two seconds to Google himself and correct any mistakes.
He’s responsible for most, if not all of it.

He did absolutely nothing to correct the record whenever his (now false) military service was mentioned in the media, in books, on websites etc.

He even wore fake medals so it’s not as if he didn’t know anything about all of the lies.

Baffled that he didn't resign at the outset of the investigation.
Because he was arrogant and egotistical. Must have thought he was somehow going to get away with it.

“He denied gross misconduct and that he acted "without honesty and integrity"

Even though he knew he would be found guilty and he knew it was all complete lies from the start, he just couldn’t admit to it and own up.

When someone has lied to the extend that he has done so for many years and still denies he acted without honesty and integrity says all you need to know about him.

Is it possible to steer the thread back onto Walts, rather than endless discussion about yet another corrupt plod, of which there are thousands? There is NPE for such discussion of the former if you must. smile

Define in combat.

If you were a chef at Kandahar was that in combat ?

If you were a medic/nurse from the navy pushed over to land operations was that in combat ?

Military intelligence , if you never left Kandahar were you in combat?
My late dad, who was a Staff Sergeant in the RASC in WW2, was classed as having been in combat. His Africa Star is in my possession. As far as I know, all RASC personnel were trained, and classed, as combat troops.

Is the muppet who threw his fake medal away going to be investigated? As that’s got to be dodgy (looking after your mates), the criminal investigation now doesn’t have that piece of evidence.

And the sad sack of st didn’t have the balls to turn up yesterday or today

Occam's razor - I think it was probably just sheer incompetence. The "expert" worked at the MoD medals office for more than 30 years, so you can imagine they are coasting into a nice retirement...

Difficult to say. You can be in a warzone and be...

1. Unlikely to come under fire
2. Likely to come under fire
3. Under fire

I would say...

1. No
2. Possibly
3. Yes

The guys testimony is evidence. If it was a mate then he would have said it was real.

It doesn't really matter. We know it's not his, and we know it's not his brothers, so its a fake. Even if it was a real medal he bought it makes no difference. Its the wearing of it amd the lies that's the issue.

I would have thought there was a high chance of coming under fire as a military chef.

Incorrect. Theyre just a cook.
