The Mantara is fairly straight forward but its weak point for buyers is rust in the lower chassis rails.

Mantara's sills hide upper and lower square section rails conected with down tubes. Mantara's chassis were only ever powdercoated and unless regularly waxoided (or similarly treated) are very likely to be suffering rust and the repair work usually involves taking the body off. Also pay attention to the suspension mountings. There are now some cars that have been restored with Galvanised Chassis but they are fairly rare and will be more expensive.

Attention should also be paid to fuel lines as the cars built in the early to mid 1990s will have pipes and filters that are over 15 years old (unless replaced) and be prone to perishing and leaks.

The Rover V8 engines are prone to the usual oil leaks.

Most of the mechanical parts are either Ford or Rover so still readily available.

Support parts and spares is provided by Marcos Heritage Spares http://www.rory.uk.com/

There is also a Marcos Sportscar Enthusiasts website with a discussion board for each model.

Most Marcos cars are sold through Redline Sportscars http://www.redlinesportscars.com/
