Hi folks,

Looking at changing my TVR S3 in spring and the Marcos Mantara 2.0GTS is on the list. When I last saw one for sale about 12-18 months ago it was going for £12k but now there's a few around going for £14-15k but that seems a lot of money to me. When you consider what £15k will buy you in a Lotus, TVR or similar do you think the GTS is worth it or are dealers hoping its rarity will keep the price high?

Also, if you were in the unfortunate position to have a smash, can you still get replacement bonnet and headlights etc?

I think there are three around at the moment. A Silver one at Paul Stephens in Suffolk and two blue ones at Redline in Wiltshire. Paul Stephens is an ex- Marcos dealer and Redline specialise in second hand Marcos Cars so you are talking dealer mark up on owner (not buyer) expectation.

Many Marcos cars were bought as weekend cars rather than daily drives. Consequently their mileage tends to be a lot lower than the average TVR or Lotus. there may also be some rarity assumption built into the price.

As regards spares and body parts Rory at Marcos Heritage Spares http://www.rory.uk.com/ has all the old jigs tools etc and can usually provide parts for all the Model Range. Give him a ring as he will be able to confirm the level of support for a 2.0 GTS.

I notice you are in Warwickshire. I have my Marcos maintained at David Gerald in Inkberrow (as a TVR owner you probably know them). They have a good working relationship with Marcos Heritage Spares and race a Marcos. As a matter of interest one of our local owners is rebuilding and modifying a 2.0 GTS.

I know that I have not commented directly on the prices but I hope this helps.

Good hunting
