marcos lm600 back in the Uk after 12 years!!!!
Discussion
Hi all, new to this site, so here goes, i have just brought the only road going lm600 from a certain famous racing driver he owned it for the last 5-6 years or so and basically he wanted to get rid of it after spending thousands on it mainly on suspension (full race with double wisg bones etc) body and engine, but still nees loads of work, BUT when it is done this car will look fantastic its a very wide low car with lots of road presence, plans currently under way are: carbon Fibre air ducts, wings etc be spoke made by the excellent Revrie in Essex, then a complete re spray in Lambo met orange with black wheels etc. the interior needs a complete over haul and i am thinking charcoal leather and orange contrast with orange stitching and aliminuim dash board with poss carbon fibre inner door cards?.
when the work is done i will post the pics this will be a very special car!!
But as a result i am now selling my cherished LM400 upgraded to a Lm500 will post an advert very soon, again this is a well sorted car with loads of extras.

Hi. Pretty sleepy on this board, as you can see not much traffic because (like you) most of us use Quiffys site.
Congratualtions on the 600! I saw the photos on ebay and it looked absolutely awsome. Really suited to your customising style (given what you have done to your current car).
Hope it will be finished in time for the celebrations this Summer and we all get a look at your handywork.
Good Luck

thanks guys glad you approve the new look! i know some will not like this but i think the general opinion is the carbon fibre and the orange make a striking contrast! the interior is much more modern and upto date also, the carbon fibre seats are really comfortable despite bieng rock hard! the suspension and shocks are currently knackered on the car,but a be spoke set are getting made at the moment, this will dramatically improve how she drives. The engine feels like it wants to go! but I also think it needs setting up properly, the car was laid up in Cor Eusors work shop for 4 years, reason for shocks gone off. The car will be at this years NEC classic Nov on the Marcos stand also. Once the car has got the new suspension on and some other odd loose end jobs finished including a rear diffuser just made for the car, it will have 3 vains either side of the exhaust outlet box section, will beef up the look of the rear also. Cannot wait to get this beauty on the road properly!.
i was going to ask what was going to be done with the engine...your thread suggested that it ahdnt done a lot for a fair few years....which doesn't tend to help engines much.....
what sort of power/torque should it have produced from new?
and i think its a gorgeous colour combo (there's a candyapple flip mantis near me which is rather striking but i think this probably out wows it!)

The engine is a chevy 5.7 short block, the ecu is standard chevy also, however the gear box is uprated and has 6 speed transaxle gearbox with a torque tube. The engine fires up and runs no problem but again i am not getting a true feel of the potential as the shocks are no good, the engine has only done 6k miles from new so its not even run in yet!!
In time i WILL consider an upgrade prob a Chevy LS3 500bhp and 500lb torque.

I'm pretty sure this car was on Tony Stelliga's stand when he took over Marcos and I was involved with the ls1 stuff. That's where I met him. I remember having a close look at it at the time and iirc it did belong to a dutch person. It's very stunning and did have an sbc installed.
ETA it only came across for promotional purposes iirc.

This is how it originally looked before Boycey waived his magic wand (and some ££££££££££££££)

This meeting was a bit of a first in many ways...
Most importantly: B1G LM is the first - and only - road legal LM600. Freshly restored and back in this country.
Secondly: Look behind B1G LM and you will see a silver LM500 which was the first LM500 roadcar Marcos built, originally owned by Andy Purvis and used as a Pace Car in 1995 when the LM500's launched on the racing scene.
Lastly: Next to that is a red LM400 which was the first LM400 roadcar Marcos built.
This is also the first time all three have been in the same place.
