I have recently purchased a TS500. I would like to know if there is anyone else out there who has owned one of these cars in the past and would be willing to share their experiences. I am having some problems getting the car sorted out
1. Car will not idle when warm
2. Doors do not fit properly
3. Electronics unreliable
4. No owners manual or information on the car

Rory's a very helpful chap especially for parts etc. As for the idling situation, that could be a management issue. You may need a person familiar with mbe management to make some tweaks. I'm assuming the car hasn't got any faults like air leaks or duff plugs etc.

I really don't have an idea. As there not many of these cars around I would like to find out if this is a design problem or a problem with my car. It has been at the TVR Center in Barnet. They have checked all the usual suspects and the management unit has been checked out by the manufacturers. The next step seems to be to remap the management unit with the car on a rolling road.
Is it a blue one or a silver one?
If it's blue it's joust's old car and if it's silver it's the original prototype, because only 2 TS500s were ever made.
Both ran Javelin engines and I can tell you that Marcos had a lot of engine management problems on the silver prototype. Maybe they were never fully sorted? Can't remember which firm was responsible for it, but somebody at Marcos might be able to point you in the right direction.

This car is the silver original prototype with the Javelin engine. I guess that the problems with the management unit were never sorted. It has an MOT so I guess the emissions are ok. I wonder if they still will be if the thing is remapped to get the car running correctly ? Anyone know if joust had similar problems ?
I gather he only had the car for a short while and as my car was taken back to the garage I hear jousts old car is there too. Apparently it is missing a few bits, like the ECU.
The good news is that I have received an email from Tony Stelliga. Hopefully we will get chance to talk next week and you never know. I will keep you posted.

I'm the proud owner of one of the TS250's and have had very similar problems as you have withe the 500!! Very annoying habit of cutting out instead of idling, drivers side door seems to work itself open after a few miles and interior light comes on. No owners manual to speak of. And worst of all, loses top end power on a far too regular basis when the petrol tank is less than half full, leading to engine management light coming on and a trip back to local garage.
Having said all that, its a truelly fantastic car which i love to bits and it turns more heads than anything else i've ever known...

Thanks for the input. One question I would like to ask. The doors on the TS500 foul on the body along the bottom. This has caused a couple of chips to be taken out of the body work. Does this happen on the TS250 ?
I just though I would let you all know that all the problems I have had with the TS500 have been resolved by Marcos. The main problem I had was that Marcos had asked me to buy the car through a TVR dealer. Despite their williningness to try and help they just could not fix a couple of problems and they spent a lot of time trying. The reason they could not fix the problems were primarily design faults which required re-design. So seven months after purchase the car is finally sorted. I just need the rain to stop now.
I would like to say thankyou to all of you who posted responses.

These are probably much better than anything I can do
Hi VMBH. Congratulations on sorting your TS500. Such a unique and headturning machine. Have you tried posting on the section of the ezboard that most Marcos owners use. http://p206.ezboard.com/fmarcossportscarenthusiast... the link should be the one that applies to TS250s, TS500s ans TSOs. I know that other Marcos owners would be delighted to know that there is a sorted TS500 around.
