New Marcos dealer opens this weekend

Champ Cars launches in Bicester

Champ Cars in Bicester, Oxon opens this weekend (Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 May) with the Marcos prototypes and Marcos press demonstrator on display.

The Marcos factory is now commencing series production of its first all new model and Champ Cars is taking orders for the V8 Marcos TSO GT2 from this weekend for 2006 and early 2007 delivery.

Champ Cars has also established an alliance with TVR and Toyota Motorsport specialists Silverstone Performance (SP). SP recently opened their second workshop at the Champ Cars site and the alliance between SP and Champ Cars has resulted in an organization with both an upmarket showroom, a well-equipped workshop (with MOT station) at Bicester and a workshop/technical centre for tuning work at Silverstone Circuit.

At the opening weekend, alongside the Marcos TSO GT2 and a selection of quality used TVRs will be an SP-prepared Toyota Motorsport MR2 Turbo and an SP-prepared TVR Tamora.

Been to the workshop a few weeks ago. It's a nice facility. Good to see them expanding.

Re-assuring to see Marcos getting some high street prescence as well. There's only so many press reviews of the TSO GT2 I can read before I want to meet a real person driving one, not an (albeit smiling!) car hack

I don't think you'll find many of us who have driven it go away without a big grin and a great impression, it is a great little car, can't wait to see/hear one on the road doing some speed.

Like the look of that new Marcos. It really shows what TVR should have done - put out a seriously quick car with a bomb proof bought-in V8 rather than a self grenading six. Still worry about Marcos build quality through - the panel gap between the bonnet and wing in the above photo is just shockingly bad.

A car-thief could slip though that gap and steal the engine! Ha ha...

So am I. You can go from pootle to blast and back to pootle in no time at all.

I'm now waiting to try the convertible again to see how much they've improved that one too.

It's the 'gills' combined with the general curavture and resulting shadows that make it look that way in many photos. It's not bad in real life, bearing in mind you have to allow for the bonnet to go down below its normal height to engage the catches when closing it.

The grey GT2 is a prototype. There a lot of detail changes, especially with reference to all panel/window gaps (not just the bonnet), on the production cars. Marcos has been very bold to put its prototype in the hands of the media and potential customers. I've given both prototypes a bloody good hiding and they feel unbreakable. The benefits of months of feedback and critiques are being able to collate, and respond to, comments about the car BEFORE production. I'm very confident about how good the production cars are going to be. Not too long to wait for them now.

Looking forward to seeing the incoming convoy at the weekend!
