Hi,

Always liked the Marcos. Have a TVR S3 at the moment and looking to upgrade next year to something a little more modern. Really like the look of the GTS turbo and wonder whether they are any good compared with the V8.

How does the engine cope with such a high BHP figure? Final question is how does the sound compare? Is it quiet like an elise or does it sound sporty?

Saw this one at one of the Essex meet's last year

The GTS is very pretty and they are reportedly V quick and handle very well too - can't remember what it sounded like tho - it was drowned out by the V8's

I drove one on Saturday and was impressed. I took my V8 up to Redline for them to sell on my behalf. There's a red one and a yellow one there. The red one is like new, I took it out and it pulled as well as my V8 did once the turbo was spinning, also felt nimbler.
It was pretty quiet until you got above 4k rpmbut maybe you could sort this by modding the exhaust.
I would consider it as an alternative to an Elise, only I would be wary of leaving it outside all the time if using as an everyday car, because of the effect on the chassis?? Any comments on this?? Any owners out there?

The Chassis on the later cars seem to be holding up - you just need to check them every year and make sure they are still covered with rust protected paint - I used Zinc on mine and it works a treat. The original powder coating doesn't seem to last long but it's okay of you catch it soon enough.

I keep mine garaged year round in any event - not least these cars attract a lot of attention

Is this your second car, or do you use it all the time?

Must admit I looked at the Marcos before deciding on the Chimaera (primarily for practicality reasons)… certainly worth a look, but I found it hard to find a decent example in my budget

As the man says, take a look at Redline - www.redlinesportscars.com/marcosused.htm

It's my first car of course

It just happens that I use a dog of a Fiat Punto most of the rest of the time
