Is this too much power for a wooden chassis?

Just looking at this. It looks like it has a hot 3.1 V6 in it with a Capri axle.

Any thoughts on whether that's too much power for a wooden chassis? I thought the standard Essex V6 with skinny tyres was the best combination.

So long as the chassis is in good order they can handle a lot of power, we have a Ric Wood engined 1969 wooden chassis car that works well with 282 bhp - the brakes and rear axle take a lot of punishment and need regular rebuilding
We run the car at the Ring and Spa for 1 - 3 hour races so it faces a much harder life than a road car.

It turned out that most of the engine was missing and the car ended up selling for about £7.5k which is typical of the direction the prices for the wooden chassis cars are going but it was beyond my budget which I'd set at £6k. I regret not going for it now but I don't know how much more I would have had to bid to win it so it's all academic now.

I doubt you'll find a roadworthy car or less than 5 figures nowadays. People have realised how special and unique the wooden chassis is.

There is a feature on a wooden chassis 1800GT in the latest classic and sportscar which looks fantastic but the asking price is £30K.
