Lets get this Marcos party started
Discussion
Had a look on this section of the forum as a Marcos owner, and nothing for ages. Any Marcos owners out there ? I know you all post on the other site but I thought I'd just try and get something sparked off...just to compete with the old Trevors out there.
There is a local to me car show on the 3rd of July 2011 at Baston, a village in between Market Deeping and Bourne on the A17 South Lincs.
just google Baston Car Show.

I have no idea how well attended it will be, the show is well signed on the A17, its a nice little village and the show is on the playing fields, it has a great pub with an excellent Sunday Buffet. It is advertised as a bike show as well. Its the first show at Baston, you may have been to the Maxey show before which is just down the road towards Peterborough. I'll be there with my Marcos as its not too far away for me. I suppose its success will depend on the weather and how well its advertised. If its not too far to travel its probably worth a run out.

We are having a super time with our 1969 wooden chassis 3 ltr car this season. The longer I own this car the more I am impressed with it, the chassis is very stiff and it handles very well.
I don't have any experience with them as road cars but as race cars they really are fantastic. Roll on the Nurburgring in September

You lucky man, plywood was after all the origional composite and it still workd brilliantly. That will be the Ford v6 then? post up a few race dates and I'll come and cheer you on.
Mine is a 94 Mantara built by the factory it has a 4.6 V8 by V8 developments with the Mega squirt management system. It does track days and road.

Are you racing at Nurburgring or doing the old Nord circuit, I did that in an Elan and blew up the gearbox.I don't have any experience with them as road cars but as race cars they really are fantastic. Roll on the Nurburgring in September

We race with the CSCC in the swinging sixties series and on a good day the car runs towards the front. As part of the series we do a 400 km race at the old Nurburgring together with the new GP circuit which makes it 25 km per lap.
The challenge is really building the car so that it can take this punishment for several hours at a time. The aero shape of the car is so good that along the 4 km straight the car will easily hit the rev limiter (which we think is circa 155mph) which is plenty in a 40 year old car made of fibreglass and wood...
However the Essex V6 engine has to be built very carefully otherwise it tends to be marginal on oil pressure with this type of running which is why we have blown up 2 engines at the ring over the last 5 years.
Have fun
