Car hire Ireland

I want to travel around Ireland and NI.

Never really hired a car before but notice 24 a day for no waiver damage of 2k. I've found insurance online for 24 quid that will cover it. Do I Have to charge 2k to my credit card if I hire a car or is that if damaged ?

It's cheaper on face on it to hire but stupid fees take my car. But that is still expensive so might just gets buses and trains.

found that avis offer fully comp hire. the only problem now is Stanstead airport parking is a rip off, even nearby ones.
