Has anybody got any suggestions of a place I can take the OH for a mini-break in January, or where I could find such a place? Would love to go to a cottage somewhere where I can sit in front of the fire, walk the dogs, do the hot-tub thing and be near some nice restuarants and pubs but so far having not much luck...

All suggestions gratefully received...

Based on your thread title I'm not sure it would be legal to offer any ideas tongue out

We like the North Cornwall coast.

Daymer Bay - for Rock, Padstow and not far from Port Isaac (which can get busy at times but should be OK in January).

Decent walk if you park at Polzeath, walk to Rock, ferry to Padstow, fish & chips washed down with a couple of pints of Doombar, ferry back to Rock then walk back across the golf course at St Enodoc.. cloud9

Perranporth is another one the dogs would love - acres upon acres of sand.

Definitely the lake district. Heavenly romantic, and your dog will love it too. Might even be snowy and wonderful that time of year meaning romantic log fires

Calcot Manor fits the bill perfectly. http://www.calcotmanor.co.uk/

They have dog friendly cottages/rooms, a walk in fields they own (so no danger of livestock) where you can walk the dog, an outdoor hot tub in the spa and two restaurants....one very good standard a la carte and another one a pub that is within the hotel too...does good pub food.

Plenty to do nearby too.

Yes it's expensive but show me a good hotel in England that isn't.

Honey Lodge on Kent offers what you are looking for.

It accepts pets has a hot tub and there is walking in the woods near by.

Sunset Loft which is a first floor apartment 3 minutes walk from the beach also accepts pets has a hot tub too.

Both have 100" cinema screen TV with surround sound!!

You can see them on the website www.kentcottageholidays.com

this is a very nice place although the walk to the pub is a bit uphill. But it's downhill coming back.

There's a list of dog friendly places here in the animal forum.

Please add some more, it's really useful and nice to get first hand recommendations.

Middle of nowhere but lovely area for walking, lovely accomodation and great hosts. Also has a secure garden for the dogs.
