Off to Nissi beach, Ayai Napa in the next few weeks, and was just wondering what I should expect to pay for an average meal out, and alcoholic beverages?

Thanks in advance.

I went to Paphos in July.

Meals varied quite a bit. I went to a small Taverna by the beach which served fantastic, authentic Cypriot meze for EUR 17 per head including drinks.

I also went to a more mainstream bar/restaurant and paid EUR 50 per head.

I'd bank on about EUR 30 per head in most places

Drinks were EUR equivalent to UK pub prices I found. More in hotels (obviously)

It's a lot more expensive than it used to be, but shop around as there can be a wide variety in terms of pricing. As far as 'recommendeds' go... Bluebells restaurant was great, very friendly and great steak. And just down from Buebells on the corner is a bar with pretty much every short bottle under the sun on the whole back wall behind the bar - very cheap alcohol but good with it.

It's going to be expensive (esp in the Agia Napa region). They've bumped up all the prices since the switch to the Euro unfortunately. frown

Came back last week from Coral Bay.

Budget 8-12 Euros a head for a budget main course (Burger, chicken, pizza), 12-18 for something a little varied (Sirloin, Meze) or around 20-24 for Fillet etc. Drinks were 2.50-2.90 Euros a pint of lager. Soft drinks were crazy prices, cheaper to drink beer all day!

Just got back from Ayia Nappa, for cheap good food across the road from 'Tommy's Bar' Dragon chinese and Zilli Italian.
Both good value and air conditioned.

Things to do, hire a car, buggy or scooter, cross the border just outside Famagusta and follow to the beach. You can get onto teh beach with the back drop of wrecked buildings from the Turkish invasion. Very surreal.

Almost forgot, go to Troodos and take the 'Old Road' to Platres, or vice-versa.
An amazing road with the tightest switchbacks i've ever seen.
Take a picture of the Ski lifts, rather odd when your sweating in your shorts.

Hiya, I went to Protaras which is the next town over from Ayia Napa. There is a big variation on eating out and drinking. You are best just looking around...some places have set meals for 10, 12 15 euro including start and main. There appears to be happy hours on food as well as drink where meals can be cheaper at certain times. I tended to get a full meal for aroun 6 to 10 euro and drinks were often cheaper than the uk. Some places do 1 euro per drink ... n happy hours are good too and can be from late afternoon until 9-10 in evening. The closer to the beach the more expensive. I paid £13 euro for a mixed meze t taste some true Cypriot food, but elsewhere it was £18 euro...so its best to look around. Most places have boards outside stating prices.

Drinks were usually about two euro for pints of Keo and Leon which is there lager, Keo is deffo very good. Do Carlberg as well for same price...and also great offers on cocktails in many places.

I have posted a message on here that was a fantastic place for cheap Smirnoff vodka ..1 litre bottle for 8 eurp and sambuka that is at Asda at mo for £18 per bottle was 6 euro there.

So deffo get the bus to protaras and stock up on the xmas booze lol. You can get a bus that takes you to all the local towns for two euros and you can travel all day on and off and visit places. Children are free on the buses.

Also there is a very cheap and very good taxi service, called Mr Johns taxis, he displays flyers and cards near beaches and deffo go with him if your thinking of visiting the water park ( which is fantastic...deffo go on hercules n the two big white water slides...so cool :-). He will collect you in a air conditioned mini bus, play some funny videos on a drop down tv, and the actual entry price is cheaper than making your own way there. So you get a discout and free transport there and back.

Have a fantastic time !

Have been to Cyprus twice, Protaras a few years ago and Coral bay in June this year. In the more 'upmarket' restaurants in the Coral Bay area we were paying +/- 100 Euros, that was for 4 adults and 2 children including all drinks. We found a very friendly local restaurant which was much cheaper and all the food was home made with excellent service (especially once they remember you!).
Tourist eateries will be more pricey and possibly not quite so authentic, find where the locals eat for the best food!

In the Coral Bay area, I'd recommend a trip to the last castle.
