And when I say "single", I *don't* mean 18-30 type stuff, just that I'll be on my own (thus trying to avoid the ridiculous premiums single travellers attract). Somewhere with bars is fine, but I'm not interested in the Balearic "'ave it LARGE" kind of thing. Been there, done that.

36, interested in local history, photographic ops etc. Not fussed about travel arrangements (long flight/ferry/anything). I don't have a car though.

Budget is around 600 quid for a week. Happy to up that accordingly for a 10 day trip.

Any thoughts?

Well, be very careful is all I can say.

A friend of mine, recently divorced asked the same question last year. Off he went to to the West coast of America and came back with a boyfriend.

So one can deduce that a holiday by yourself gives you the gay.

Sandals?

Seriously, I don't see why being single matters on the destination. What I would avoid is resorts or complexes where you literally are on your own unless you spark up friendship out there, spending your days bored out of your skin and looking it.

Maybe a city break would be better? Things to do. Plenty of people around to spark up conversation. Not being stuck with the same crowd etc.

Nice!

If I were going for an on my own holiday I would be looking for some sort of city break somewhere interesting.

Monaco? or somewhere similar?

I can't help with providers though.

Tried Mark Warner or Club Med? You might need to up the £600 budget though....

No, it doesn't - just I was trying to avoid places that that might suggest. Ie, not into clubbing etc.
