Ok so I know it's been done before with suggestions. Heading there with the other half in september.

Have been before so done the main things to do like van gogh, never did anne frank(may this time but not too fussed if I don't), canal tour etc.

Have seen the suggestion of heading out to anheim, other half wont want to do that so will have to do that at another time.

So looking for the other things you should go see.

Have Heinekin brewery on the list. Possibly the Zoo/park thats there as been told its a good nice day out, will also most likely visit one of the diamond tours.

have a day out to marken. ask at your hotel how to get there but its about 10-15mins on a bus then a short boat trip. more than worth it, its quite bizarre how somewhere so peaceful & picturesque is only 20mins from a capital city centre.

Leiden is very nice, it's a university town. About 40 mins on the train from Amsterdam if I recall (it's been quite a few years), easy as a day trip:

probably stating the obvious, but; if you do fancy going to Anne Frank's house: go early. We were there in May and the queue was stupid by about 10 - 10.30. we didn't bother!

Been to Amsterdam a few times, Anne Frank`s house has to be worth a visit, did get there early but have rarely been so moved...was quite sceptical beforehand

Been kicked out of the Van Goch museum...children set the alarms off
Got kicked off a canal boat...children screaming when guy in front shut the sliding window on their heads...left my wallet on the seat in embarrased evacuation

Hotel unbeknown to me was by the zoo, those gibbons / monkeys don`t have howl a lot at sunrise, thought next door were.....

Now somewhat older our daughter has just returned from Amsterdam, someone in a coffee shop told her they`d had too much coffee and their head was spinning...to which she replied " You`re going to be up all night bouncing off the walls after all that caffeine mate "......"Why is everyone laughing at me ? "

No, go late! It's open until 8 or 9pm and only takes about 30mins to go round - it is a scarily small place for so many people to be stuck in after all. We went about 7pm before dinner and went straight in with no queuing. I think you can buy online aswell now and prebook a specific time but that's far too organised for me...
