Nice places to go in England for 2-3 days
Discussion
Hi all,
After my wedding and honeymoon this year, the coffers will be severely depleted. So the missus and I are thinking of going away for 2-3 days in October to a nice hotel/B&B somewhere in the British Isles.
So where would be recommended?
We are thinking:
- Bath
- Winchester
- Brighton
We want somewhere to hideaway, take in the fresh air, go to a few nice pubs and get some good grub.
Budget would be £100 per night max.

We enjoyed Bath, just enough to do over a few days. Winchester is pretty s
te these days, the town centre is empty although the cathedral is worth a look.
What about Cheltenham as a base and get out in the Cotswolds - lots of nice country pubs (the Slaughters for e.g.).
Some nice places on the south coast near Chichester - e.g. Emsworth, Arundel etc.

Hi
How about Norfolk. I went to the www.whitehorsebrancaster.co.uk earlier this year. Excelent restaurant and right on the coast path.

We go there for a weekend in February every year to blow the winter blues away. Nice old fashioned country hotel, amazing food (the cream tea in the afternoon by a roaring fire is something special), nice places to go walking around, loads of nice pubs in the little villages, and the Beaulie motor museam on the other side of the road. The staff are excellent, really friendly and helpful. They do have links to a nearby spa which is ok if you fancy pampering the missus, but not great. The rooms are nice, but get the best you can as the four poster beds are worth it.

Forest of Bowland is beautiful. Stayed at the Inn above in Slaidburn which is ideal for exploring the countryside and is cheap. It was like being in Emmerdale (which may or may not be a good thing!)
