Ive been across several times from the south...it's ok, quite picturesque and a lot less developed than the south. Depends what you're looking for to be honest. Its cheap as it's not in the eurozone.

I stayed in the South and visited the North. Because it's less touristy I think you may find it's a bit more dodgy, not dangerous, I just think you should have your wits about you more.

Don't think you can take a hire car from the south into the north though, if that's what you were planning.

It depends what you want in a holiday?

You can bring hire cars from the south to the north or you can use a taxi service from either larnaca or paphos (ranges from £40-£60 each way), but if you want to drive across you will need to let the hire company know.

Flights into Ercan ae quite pricey compared to the south and with a 1 hour stop in Turkey is quite a bore. The plus side is there is no border crossings, not taht there is any problems with this maybe a spot check of luggge every now and again.

The exchange rate is pretty good at the moment (£1=2.5YTL).

To give you an Idea of prices 1 large beer is about 4YTL Cigarettes about 5YTL Petrol 1.80YTL per litre.

Can't think of anything else you might need to know if you want more information just ask.
