The OH and I are thinking about a week on a Channel Isle in September. Any hotel / self-catering cottage recommendations? Any preferences for Jersey or Guernsey?

Cheers,
E.

Have stayed on both many times. Most recent visit was to Jersey, stayed in the Sommerville hotel, it was great, the food was really good. And its a short walk into the small port its in, that has resturants/pubs if you don't want to eat at the hotel. Its also about 5 miles from the centre

Not been to Jersey but Guernsey is lovely if a bit "50s". Got lots of comments about the Dreadnought too, which was nice wink

We stayed here which was plain but comfortable and in a spectacular setting.

I had a long weekend in Jersey a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. Lots to see and do, zoo, war tunnels, castles, vineyard, shopping, enjoyed some lovely seafood as well.. having not been to Guernsey though, I can't be too objective.

Guernsey is a step right back, but not in bad way at all, plus you can take day trips to Herm and Sark if you wanted to. That really will take you back.

Jersey is more in between UK and Guernsey.

Plenty of great restaurants on both Islands.

Condor ferries usually have good deals on from Weymouth/Poole to both, with a choice of hotels/self catering.

Thanks for the help all. In the end we ditched the Channel Isles idea and have booked a place in Penzance that even comes with a garage for the Caterham thumbup
