After seeing this mentioned in another post, I did some research but I'm still not clear on a few things.

Has anyone got one of these accounts for the purpose of free overseas cash withdrawels? What are the associated advantages / disadvantages?

Thanks,

I've used one as a 'holiday account' for the last few years but since the end of May, they're starting to impose charges for overseas transactions, so no longer free.

They are still the most economic way of extracting your holiday money, but not as good as they were.

I've had one for a couple of years now. They are still cheaper than anyone else I can find even with the added fees they have now. The card is only a Cash Card so it can only be used in ATMs. A pre-paid cashcard / Master Card can be used like a debit card to make transactions fee-free. I currently combine the two and it seems to work quite well smile

Europe is still free for withdrawals, rest of the world you pay.

Ah, that confused me massively on a recent trip to Europe. I went out ready for a shafting for each ATM transaction then came home to find I was still clean rofl
