Planning on going camping for a couple of nights next weekend with my wife, 3 year old and 10 month old baby.

It will probably be a complete disaster, but worth a try.

I live in West Berks and do not want to travel too far. If the children hate it at least then we can get home quickly!

If anyone can suggest somewhere then it would be appreciated. (because of the children I would quite like some good toilet facilities!)

How about one of these campsites in the New Forest. I haven't used them myself although were planning to at some point.

I always fancy going there, but imagine they would be very busy at this time of year. If my 10 month old baby cries all night I don't think the neighbours will be very happy!

Swiss Farm in Henley is a pretty good place for "novice" campers. It's in the fields a 15 minute walk from town with all the shops, bars and restos you'll need if you aren't up for campfire cooking. Its also close enough to the river to go for some good walks up and down the Thames.

Forget about going next week as it's Henley Regatta, and the whole town including the campsite is a bit of a nightmare, but any other time of the year it's fine. Has acceptabel showers/loos, a pool and a bar/social club too.
