Afternoon all.

I've been tasked with looking for a villa for up to 6 people for either 1 week or 2 in Portugal in August. Ideally the villa should have a pool with direct beach access or with a beach within walking distance. Good restaurants and a few nice bars in the area would also be nice.

I know absolutely nothing about Portugal but the Algarve has been suggested, specific towns or villages haven't.

If anyone has used a particular company that may be able to help I'd love to hear from you, or if you have any suggestions as to where I should be looking place tell me.

Thanks
Ciaran

Search the ownersdirect website. We got a nice little place last year about a 2 minute drive to some great fairly quiet beaches. It was out of town so we had to drive into town for pubs/restaurants but the missus was pregnant so we were after a quiet place and she drove so I didn't mind drinking for two biggrin

We stayed here, it was quite nice and the town of Carvoeiro (about 10 mins away has a decent selection of evening drinks places without being too loud.

http://www.ownersdirect.co.uk/portugal/p839.htm It's only a 2 bed place so no good to you but there are plenty of others on the website.

IMO, the further west you go on the Algarve the better (stopping at Parque de Floresta/Salema as, apart from Sagres, there is nothing there but National Parkland). Although even the western end is more built up these days. Stay away from Albefueira at all costs, unless you like Ze Germans. Carveiro is nice but Id say Portimao or further west. Quinta/Val de Lobo and Villamora are nice but expensive.

Personally I'd look either side of Lagos. My parents had a villa between Praia Da Luz (Yes, that place) and Burgau for 30 years so I know the area well. Somewhere in here http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&q=algarve&...

If you decide to go to the Luz/Burgau area ping me a PM, I have an email I sent to friends last year with recommended local restaurants and bars smile

If you have family, especially with teenagers and you like golf, try Val Do Lobo, I did it a couple of years ago and was safe, friendly and although a bit like a very posh Butlins had something for everyone - pools, beach, bars, not far from local villages and Senor Frango's chicken restaurant (God gave him the recipie)...

Thanks for the info gents!

For some reason the Praia De Luz has just clicked now. Been wondering why I've heard the name so much.

Myself and my wife are 32 and we'll have our 14 month old with us, the inlaws are also going with the sister in law and her fella who are about the same age.
