Myself and Mrs Screwloose are off to Ile de Re in early July. Any suggestions for things to do or see or restaurants to eat at would be much appreciated.

thanks.

Well there isn't that much to do - it's a small island!

I'd recommend hiring bikes and just pootling about.

That was the general idea: just a relaxing break but I was just making sure we weren't missing anything that shouldn't be missed.

Any restaurant recommendations?

We stayed in St-Martin-de-Ré for a couple of nights, we could have easily spent a week on the island. Loads to do, check out the website.

Hire a bicyle, there are plenty of cycle paths, the island is flat and you can travel miles in a day.

If I could name the restaurant in St Martin that gave me and Mrs Puggit food poisoning, I would!

It does have a very good network of cycle paths. St-Martin was nice, we stayed in La Flotte which was nice too.

One thing with the cycling: watch the sun, there isn't much shade in some places cool

wish we'd had more time there - I think there was a lighthouse the other end of the island that was supposed to be worth a look

Avoid the Titty Twister would be my advice.

Pop into La Rochelle and have a gallon of fish soup in Andres in the old port. Haven't suffered Puggit's fate in there yet, the grub is splendid.
