Planning to spend 3 days in the smoke in July and notice that the Marriott, West India Quay is offering very competitive rates. It looks like a very smart new hotel and is therefore excellent value. Has anyone stayed there? Also is it easy to get into town on the DLR and does it run on Sunday?

Cheers

Paul

My brother in law stayed there and it seems pretty nice. DLR runs every day and it's easy to get into town (15 mins into Bank).

From what I've seen it's good, a very good location. If you need to be in Canary Wharf then the Four Seasons is an excellent alternative.

It's not bad, i've stayed there before when visiting my brother. Takes about 15 minutes tops on the DLR from West India Quay to Bank. Or the other option is to walk to Canary Wharf tube (about a 10 minute walk) to get the Jubilee line.

Decent hotel and the brekky is pretty good smile Might want to be a bit more central though if you're down to sight see etc.

Thanks for the advice guys. I think I'm going to stay there. The price is a steal for the quality of the hotel and although it's not central it's 15 mins on the DLR so no issues with that. Also I'll have my car with me as It's the last few days of a bit of a touring holiday with my gf who is visiting from the USA. Parking is an issue with a lot of West End places but it's easy there.

Yep, I've stayed there a few times. It's certainly very good value for money.

The breakfast IIRC was £25 - not sure if it was quite worth that!

Yeah Marriott breakfasts are always expensive. I got a double / king room with all the trimmings for £99 plus vat per night with a 3 for 2 so third night free - Total £227. That even beat the £74.25 plus vat a night best weekend rate they were quoting online which would have been £256. This seems like a great deal for a hotel of that quality in London. The rack rate is £249 a night!

Unrep - if you're free one night during the week, fancy a beer ?

See if you can get an upgrade to a club room for free/cheap - you get free continental breakfast, free soft drinks (in all of them that I've stayed in apart from Dubai where you got free booze - bargain!), and nibbles in the evening in the lounge.

I've been looking at hotels in London for a weekend later in the year and had noticed its a good price at this one.......cheaper than a Premier Inn that I've used before in Kensington!
Is breakfast not included in Marriot rates?, I thought it always was.
Stayed near Excel last year so I know that its easy to get into the centre from Canary Warf anyway, and the Marriot looks very nice!

Every Marriott I stayed in you get booze free as well in club room (Sydney, Singapore, US, Hong Kong).
